In summer of the boy we meet Leif a college student with purple hair and piercings home for the summer, for the first time since he came out and who is basically going through the days until he goes back to school; that is until he meets Ridley.
Ridley ridley ridley *sigh* i loved him. You'll have to read the book to find out what's so special about him but i promise you won't be disappointed. He's smart, sweet and it was beautiful watching him come into his own person. The whole time reading i kept hoping this would someday somehow become a movie, it was that sweet and genuine, especially with the token "villain" or "bad guys" to say the least. You'll have to read about those yourself.
Absolutely loved Leif's family (his mom was a riot lol) although the book doesn't go in depth about them per say but the bits and pieces you do get are enough to show you what kind of people they are and the son they raised. Ridley's family...well I'll leave that opinion up to you.
Except for a few minor editing errors which i could overlook and still enjoy the book, there wasn't much i didn't like. The book is from Leif's POV which i didn't mind but there were certain things that happened that i wish we could've seen from Ridley's POV, like his family dynamic or meltdowns or just being with Lief on a whole. Wanted to see maybe the do over school day where Ridley kicks it butt and realizes "yes i can do this". Also I was hoping for a different ending, maybe an epilogue where we see Ridley keeping his promise of that marriage/wedding (so crossing my fingers for a novella at least to see that bit; if we get a little something in his POV even better).
With all this being said, get this book you won't regret it. Share it and review it. Enjoy the ride that is Leif and Ridley and keep an open mind when those "bad guys" get you mad. Looking forward to more from this author :)
A brand new author for me, and I stumbled upon this adorable book purely by accident. Who says there's no such thing as fate? LOL
The love story here is steeped in tenderness, and the subject matter handled with enormous sensitivity and care.
I've not ever read a book relating to this disability before this one, and I loved every single thing about this book.
A delightful, often humorous young adult/coming of age mm tale of romance, friendship and family.
Please, do yourself a favor, and read this book. You will be surprised, amazed and transported. Beautifully accurate editing. Uncomplicated, easy flow writing style and overall, just a delicious, wonderful book.
Well done, Sarah, and thank you for sharing this!

Suitable for all ages.
This book also really opened my eyes about the lives of autistic people as well as the things they go through, not just inwardly but also socially. I'm so, so glad I gave it a try.

I think the author is doing a wonderful service to have a character with this condition and show a multi-dimensional character. Making him gay is even more fascinating.
