I have never been disappointed with a book by Kitty Pilgrim. Her books feel like a race from chapter one with plenty of action to keep the story interesting. I found myself reading later into the night than I planned. The volcanic eruptions made for a unique backstory further complicating the challenges Cordelia and Sinclair were facing. In three books we have come to know the leading pair and I am wondering if the happily ever after was not too happy signaling the end. Regardless, if kitty keeps writing, I will keep reading her books.

This book was highly entertaining. The story was intricately woven with lots of colorful characters and glamorous destinations, but it also never strayed too far off course. Love was in the air, scandal was around the corner, the bad guys were coming, and the volcanoes might erupt causing catastrophic consequences. On top of that, the author managed to supply a dusting of humor and fun-filled facts along the way. I was hooked after Princess Victoria ditched her bodyguards on the 7th page. Loved Jude Blackwell... But the very independent and famous oceanographer Cordelia Stapleton, and the dashing archaeologist John Sinclair both continue to carry the day.
I read the other two books but don't believe they are prerequisites to understanding the plot with this fun. Enjoy the ride!

Enjoyable read, however the pages kept falling out of the binding which made it somewhat tedious when reading. I like this author and have read several of her books. The plot seemed a bit rushed at the end but it did keep me entertained.

While the novel is a fun read that keeps you turning the pages, at the same time, it is an intelligent novel. It keeps you engaged as you travel from Italy to France to Great Britain, to villas, estates and townhouses, at the same time learning about volcanoes, about the people who study them, who climb them, who photograph them while you figure out the puzzle of murders, thefts, and romances.

If you haven't read all 3--buy them...if you've read The Explorer's Code and The Stolen Chalice get this---great summer read!! Kitty's knowledge of vulcanology (sp?), Capri, London, Paris and the English countryside shines through as do the themes of individual growth and great female role models. Can't wait for the next book....
