The Research Trip - Christina Rose Andrews
5 stars -- one of the best stories in the anthology. I love that this features a married couple in their 30s-40s with a guy I'd like to take home and have tie me up. Frank is the best MMC in the anthology, he's funny, considerate, and sexy all at the same time. A great start to book.
Summer Nights - Ariel Bishop
4 stars - This gets one additional star just for the dog. While the story was okay, parts of it were clunky. However, since this is nestled between the two best stories in the anthology, I may also be judging this harshly.
Irresistible - Caitlyn Lynch
5 stars - Easily the best threesome in the book and one of the best stories overall. The sex is hot and I loved the end line.
Parted Veils of Midsummer - Líadáin Douglas
4 Stars - I found myself wishing for a bit more with this story. This is one of the paranormal entries and it's good, but was missing something that kept it from being great.
The Gardener - Sera Taino
5 stars - If I could give this more stars, I would. This is hot with lovely language and I adore the older woman/younger man thing going on. One of the best stories in the anthology.
Siren’s Call - Gwen Marshall
5 stars - I really loved Theo and Nerissa. While I was semi-disappointed there wasn't more supernatural to this (make Theo a demi-god!!!) I still really loved this story and the characters.
Storm In A Teacup - Ava Bari
3 stars - I didn't like the MMC very much. This story was okay. The sex was good, but that's really all I can say.
Taking Chances - T.D. Crawls
4 stars - While I'm not a fan of the set up, I did like this story. I liked Lila and I liked the Woman!Dom aspects of the story. This is fun, but there was a little too much exposition at times.
The Flooding of Ar - Abbigail Clark
5 Stars - The lone historical entry and it's a good one. I loved the take on ancient Egypt and the Cult of Min as well as the whole ritualized sex thing. The only thing that would have made this better would be if the ending were a little more happy.
Bliss - Annika Steele
4 stars - I'll give the author credit, having an older romance between two divorcees with kids is a unique concept. But I thought there was too much with the kids and not enough with Simon and Chloe. If it weren't for the uniqueness, I'd have rated this 3 stars.
Just The Three Of Us - Moxie Rivers
4 stars - Another threesome story, this one is okay. I felt the characters needed a little more fleshing out. I didn't dislike any of the characters, bu this wasn't one of my favorites.
The Marine's Temptation - Livvy Ward
5 stars - This also gets an extra star for the dog. But unlike the other story with the dog, I liked the human characters better. They were believable and their getting together felt natural. Definitely a good read.
Bare Knuckled Love - Cynthia Miller
4 stars - This a good story, but it felt incomplete. I wanted more. I really liked Lucy and Reed is a bad boy that will definitely appeal to some.
Yearning - Siobhan Kearney
5 stars - This is the best paranormal offering in the set. I adored Ian, tattooed, hunky, and with a big heart. And I really felt for Rachel. While there were times that there felt like there was a little too much exposition, I forgot about it in the beauty of the language and the emotion of the characters.
A Cup of Coffee And An Offshore Wind - Avery J Heath
5 stars - This gets an extra star for the MFC. Grace is great. Amazing. Awesome. Are there enough adjectives? No... there are not. Seriously, this story is all about Grace. While the writing could use a little polish, there's a lot here that is fun. Seriously, Grace is the best MFC of the anthology.
Love In The Water - Tally Bane
3 stars - I would have given this 5 stars if it weren't for the heavy-handed and completely unnecessary trans-soapbox that felt out of place and lecturing. I would have liked it better if the brother had just been trans and it was a thing that was awesome. I felt sorry for Gail and angry at Kai for the whole thing. And I also felt sorry for the brother as well, that wasn't fair to him to have to explain his circumstance to his brother's long-time girlfriend. Other than that, this story was cute. I recommend future readers skip the first few pages of this and join the story in progress in the morning of their hike.
Instant Connection - Tricia Ramey
5 stars - great story I loved Aphry, she was fun and sexy. I really got into her and I wished the story was all in her head, but this was a strong end to an overall strong book.
In closing, I want to say I'll definitely be rereading several of these again and that the ones that aren't as strong don't overwhelm those that are. The editing is good, which unfortunately cannot be said for many of these anthology submissions. Get this while the getting is good!
Disclaimer: I received an ARC from one of the authors. My opinions are my own.
I particularly liked The Research Trip and The Flooding of Ar. There were a few things that fell a bit flat, like the random transgendered character in the otherwise very good Love in the Water (a continuation of the Gail/Kai romance from Red Hots) that felt more like a token than an actual character; the setup for Siren's Call seemed like it was going to be supernatural, but didn't pan out; and the oddly-named main character of Instant Connection (tbh I thought it was an odd spelling of Avery until halfway through the story).
Overall, it was a great batch of stories from previous contributors and new authors, with something to satisfy a variety of tastes.

I love the way each writer bent a trope or twisted a cliche. For example, in Christina Rose Andrews' The Research Trip, a husband and wife are in Hawaii on a business trip. Only, *she's* the one there on business. She sells real estate, her husband writes steamy romances.
Ariel Bishop's Summer Nights is fabulous - a movie star invites the author whose book he's adapting to stay with him, and sparks fly. Caitlyn Lynch''s menage story, Irresistible, is one *I* found irresistible! It packed serious heat, yes, but with lots of humor and sweetness.
It's hard to pick a favorite, but one that really stands out as truly unique is Cynthia Miller's Bare Knuckled Love. Two people living in the same crappy apartment building, barely making ends meet, loners...They're fascinated by each other yet unable to make a move until chance steps in.
Two thumbs up from me on the whole collection.
I chose to review a complimentary advance reader copy of Summer Heat.
