This was a fun book to read. I don't think boys are any different in 2013 than they were in the 1960s when it comes to shoes. My 10 yr. old grandson walked in the house tonight with shoes he had destroyed. However your stories were much more entertaining. The lawnmower, hooked me right away. I remember wrapping the cord on the lawnmower after hooking it in the small slot. Every story seemed possible. I looked forward to each chapter. I won this book free from Goodreads.com. Thank you, Goodreads.

Now, I am not one to post spoilers (this book is a fast paced and enjoyable read); but I do have to say that even though I have never been a pre-adolescent boy I can completely relate to the bee bee gun incident. Who among us has not shot at something we shouldn't have? Let him be the first to cast a bee bee. Hudkins also captures the spirit of sibling rivalry at its very essence, and there is nothing like sibling rivalry between latchkey kids. It often involves entire neighborhoods and Machiavellian Plots.
I would recommend this book to adults and kids alike. It is one of those stories that just makes you feel good. Couldn't we all use a bit more feel good in our lives?
You would think that a book about a boy and his shoes wouldn't be a good read and your right....ITS A GREAT READ! This book had me chuckling and at points laughing out loud! It is a good book with great characters! The story is a fun one to read. You'll be invested in Ricky and his attempt to keep his shoes!
