Then the whining starts. And it goes on and on. There is a subplot with another character, but it's pretty predictable. I just can't finish this book. It's going back to the library. I got to disc 4 and was sick of the whole thing. Don't waste your time unless you enjoy a lot of whining .
I gave the story four stars instead of five because of the character's dialogue. All three of the 35 years old women spoke like a college-aged kid. They spoke words like: totally...dude...swishy (referring to a gay man). Also, the landlord had quite a nickname for his ex-wife's current husband, which was F-face. Really??? I don't know any 35 years old people that talk like that. The dialogue was a pet-peeve of mine all thoughout the book and thus, the reason for four stars.
Ellis, Julia, and Dorie are three women in their mid 30s who have been best friends since grade school. They decide to rent a house on the Outer Banks for the month of August as a girls getaway. Throw in Ty, the good looking landlord, and Maryn, a woman on the run from her troubles, and there are twists and turns along the way.
What I loved most about Summer Rental was it centered on a group of women in their 30s, not their 20s. As I enter that new decade, I love finding books with characters in that age bracket. It's a must read for a summer day or two at the beach or pool!
