In my opinion, the best way to use this book is to read one section of the book at a time... then build on the topic presented with other resources like adding in a fictional story, a science book, poetry, crafts/projects, going on exploratory walks, outings, etc. In this way, you can use the book as a great springboard at the start of summer vacation in order to jump into the season and set up a structure that will greatly benefit your child's eduction and character. You can develop a number of fun summer-themed lesson plans to keep your child learning and practicing skills while not in regular school. Even if you finish this book and everything it has to offer, you can decide what other summer topics really connect with your child and then make further lessons from that to fill in the rest of the summer. Maybe you will get a book on the night sky and record how the moon changes each night.... or learn about the animals that live at the beach or in the ocean.... or maybe you will do science experiments studying the properties of water?
Just never let a summer go by without engaging a child in learning. It makes a big difference in their life.
