There are points of really good writing mixed in with lots of less than exemplary plot twists in this particular read. I felt like there were more chapters in this book that added nothing to the story in its entirety and could use some judicious editing.

The story line has merits, but never seems to come to fruition. I understand the stage must be set, but to end the book with no resolutions what-so-ever was not only a complete let down but frustrated me to the point that I won't read the next installments for fear of further mental aggrivation.

But...seriously, give the dog a bone already.

I enjoyed the read, but a sample chapter is not a book. The writing is engaging and the story setup is well done. Unfortunately, this is just a chapter, a sketch almost, not a book. If I wanted to download a sample of a book, Amazon has a way to do that. Putting a chapter out there as a book is a deceptive practice, in my book anyways.

I understand that it is an Epic Fantasy Adventure, and I did greatly enjoy it, but it seemed a tad to short and left me hanging a little too much for my liking. Don't get me wrong, I read it in less than 7 hours, but the need for me overwhelmed me and I craved to learn more into the characters before it ended so abruptly. I would recommend this to others, but only on the pretense that they buy the entire collection in order to satisfy the entire picture that is desperately desired from an avid reader!

It must be tough being the princess of a village of the Northmen. Oddly enough, this lady, if it weren't for her location and physical description, would sound like a total rip-off of Disney's Merida (oh, wait, and her heavy interest in science, not archery). She constantly goes against her father's orders to be more a traditional Norse woman and not go after everything her own heart desires (and proceeds to down them). Things change when she rescues a man in a nearby river, who claims to be from a place called Esclede, coming by to study the area, and to be a follower of a sect called the Leaders of Light.
And yet, that one rescue attempt will have changed everything, gradually, but still changing so much. In nearly 86 pages, you see a king gripped by the passing of his wife become a whole 'nother person, someone that his own daughter questions the motives of another man for.
What I had a problem with in this was that the writing style, in the middle, seemed a bit stilted for the storytelling method, so I felt like I had to trudge through a seemingly lengthy short story.
I'm hoping the book this is a prequel to is better-written than this, as well as to see connections to this novellum in the story itself.

This fantasy novella is well written, professionally produced (editing, proofreading, formatting, and cover), and the characters are interesting if sometimes a touch flat, especially the villain. But while there's an ending, there's no real resolution of the problem, and the actual ending wasn't entirely satisfying. I might be old-fashioned here, but even in the set-up for a series, I want a satisfying resolution, especially as the first chapter of the next book (included at the end) didn't even mention the main character of this book, and she's the one I'm interested in and rooting for. Let's call it 3.5 stars.

There can be no complaints about the author’s writing techniques, though in terms of plot progression it was incredibly slow which when adding the fact that the protagonist isn’t a very interesting individual, often left the reader, not bored, but indifferent to the unveiling story.

Falen wants to be a scientist. She dreams of journeying to the southern city of Ral Tora to study at its famous engineering academy. But Falen's dreams seem doomed to failure. That is, until a chance encounter with a stranger that could change everything. Could this stranger hold the key to Falen's hopes? Or will she realize she should be careful what she wishes for?

This 23,000 word novella is a prequel to the epic fantasy series, The Wrath of the Northmen. Great prequel look for even more in the first novel.

I can't believe the audacity of calling this a Book!! A prologue and a couple of chapters at best. There really is no content to the story at end of book one. Glad I got it free because I still feel cheated at the data usage and time it took me to download...Certainly wouldn't waste money on more of the series. At content rate it will probably take her another four books to reach the science and engineering school!!
