Heres how to save money with these dunks and make it last much longer!

I used this in my bird bath this summer. When it arrived in the mail, I went to the bird bath and saw small mosquito larva in it. How to make this product last longer with a small birdbath is easy ! I broke one of the dunks in half because my bird bath is not that big and put it in. The next day all the mosquito were dead. This stuff is awesome. I found the same results from breaking it into quarters and I bet I could go even smaller than that. They last a long time. I would say three to five weeks. And even when you cant see the dunk floating it is still working. I always put another one in when it was completely gone on top. My dog and deer drink out of that fountain a lot and no problems. With fall approaching I still have enough left over to go all next summer easily. At the end of the summer I realized every since I had started using this the mosquitoes around the house were almost non existent. Totally different from previous years when it was hard to go outside without getting bit !. ( And I changed the water in the bird bath weekly) This summer I only changed the water when it got dirty unlike last summer when every week it had baby mosquitoes in it ! Works - but not without consequences.

I'm in Virginia and have a pond in my back yard. I honestly didn't have a lot of mosquitoes, but even a few can drive you crazy, so I used these for about 2 years before I stopped. I stopped because I noticed in the 2nd summer that our dragonflies were gone. We had always had plenty of beautiful dragonflies all around because of the - you guessed it - the mosquitoes.

So the first year the mosquitoes were fewer, we still had most of the dragonflies from all the larvae that had overwintered. The second year we had hardly any dragonflies, and the few mosquitoes we started with were back around. It's impossible to eliminate every source of mosquitoes, but by eliminating the biggest source- the pond - we took away the primary food supply of the dragonflies.

It took two years to get the dragonflies back. The first year the mosquitoes were pretty bad, but the second year the dragonflies had returned, the mosquitoes are back down to just a few, and balance is restored. So yes, the Dunks work as advertised. And no, they didn't poison anything else - the fish, frogs, birds, skunks, deer, racoon and cats all seemed unaffected. But - when you interrupt the natural food chain in an ecosystem, there are consequences.

These would be great if you have standing water that's just enough for mosquitoes but not enough for the dragonflies. But if you enjoy your dragonflies and recognize that they do a pretty awesome job at hunting mosquitoes, you may want to think twice before taking away their food source.

It was disgusting and terrifying

When we first got our duck, his tub/pool was completely filled with little mosquito larvae. It was disgusting and terrifying. We had a serious mosquito problem to begin with, but now we were making it worse. These really do prevent mosquitos from breeding/growing in the water. And because it is natural, I'm not concerned if my duck accidentally eats a piece. We put it into a little metal chicken treat holder (that we only use for treats in winter) and toss it in. It stays at the bottom in the little basket. Without the basket, it floats, and my duck destroys it immediately.

I have been using these on my indoor plants for about 1 year now. I had an infestation of fungus gnats (same family as mosquitoes, but dont bite), which look like little fruit flies. They lay eggs in the plants soil and when I soak a dunk in my watering can full of water, and then water the plants with it, after about 3 months, there were almost no gnats left. I am happy I did not have to get rid of my house plants.

It worked. I have a small waterfall pond, it's about 18 sqf. I want to get rid of the larvaes ASAP. I broke 2 packs into smaller pieces and put them in the pond and after 3 days, all the larvaes are gone.

I love this product. It works very well in my bird bath and our small pond. The dogs can still drink from the pond and bird bath since it is completely harmless to them as well. I am so happy there is a product that kills mosquitoes while not harming wildlife or pets.

We got our outside deck back for summer nights!

This product helped us get our yard back from the mosquitos. We can now have dinner outside and also spend summer nights outside. I did not want to use the commercial mosquito sprays nor did I want to hire the pest control people for a spray down that lasts only a few days. This, along with our bats, have taken care of the mosquitos. HOWEVER, I would not use it where there are animals. Birds will stop drinking out of the collection of water if you use it in a birdbath (not the dunks, but the sister product of granules)

Works great in my bird bath. I was sceptical at first because I didn't want to poison the birds. I read the description and instructions, it states that the dunks don't harm birds. When I received the dunks I cut one and put 1/4 of a dunk in the recycling bucket. The next day no larvae and so far the birds are fine.
