Just got back from the indoor shooting range. Wore this product and am pleased as punch over its performance. I was shooting a 45ACP 1911, a 45LC revolver, & a 45LC lever action rifle. Do not know what else was being fired but there was a lot of shooting action that as well muffled as it was sounded larger than mine.

Save your money on all those more expensive muffs and get this one if it becomes available again.

Terrific noise attenuation - best I've ever seen. My only complaint is that the head size adjustment doesn't hold. As soon as you take this off, the adjustable band collapses completely. A bit of a nuisance.

Let me start by saying that I am a gun owner and serious about firearms safety and proficiency, however I am also very serious about protecting my hearing! I have actually done much less shooting than I wanted to prior to buying these Sumsonic G470 Safety Ear Defenders because I hate those little earplugs which were the only thing I had to use in the past. The Sumsonic Ear Defenders make a world of difference! I am able to shoot in total comfort and confidence that my fragile eardrums are being protected.

I have really sensitive ears - I have only been to a couple big concerts and when I did I had to wear ear plugs. Usually when I have shot guns in the past or been around anyone who was shooting, even with earplugs, the sound made me jump a little and was very bothersome, even disturbing sometimes. With my new ear protection, the sound of the guns we shot didn’t bother me a bit. Now I won’t hesitate to go to the range or drive up to our hunting land to practice using my S&W Bodyguard 380 that I keep on my bedside table since my husband is out of town a lot. I am also planning on getting more comfortable with my husband’s 9mm pistol and AR15.

I am very picky about being comfortable, so I was actually worried these would irritate my head or ears somehow before I received them. I wore them for a good while already and they were very comfortable. I feel sure I could wear them as long as needed without any discomfort. The padding on the head strap and ear covers is very cushiony and flexible, and the head strap adjusts from very small to a size that I think is big enough to fit anyone's head. I wear it just a little larger than the smallest size, and I think I probably have an average size head for a woman.Read more ›

I tested these crazy high quality Safety Ear Muffs as soon as they arrived! There's always loud noises around my house from cars and sometimes gun shots or police sirens, and I knew If I went outside - I'd be able to test these no problem! I'm really impressed by how comfortable these ear muffs are! And they really hug your face just perfectly so it really does cut down on the loud noises, so these are absolutely ideal for hunting! They're super easy to adjust to fit your face and head perfectly with little to no hassle at all! Highly recommended to all of the hunters or people who enjoy going shooting but would like to keep their hearing safe! They are quite big though, so they may be too big for a children's head, but definitely worth a shot testing out on an older child. Great for anyone who works around loud noises and wants to keep their ears and hearing safe!

Since I received these ear muffs in the mail today, I decided to try a little target practicing. I have been using the Moldex Pura-Fit Ear Plugs NRR 33 for hearing protection. They are also rated ANSI S3.19, as are these ear muffs.

Fit and comfort:
It's important to note, I have a tiny head for an adult. I stopped growing when I was ten years old. I'm 4'10, and my head is proportionally child sized. I can wear these earmuffs easily without extended the band at all. My husband only needs to extend a small bit for his average-sized head, and still has plenty of extension room remaining. These muffs hugged my head firmly and stayed in place when I moved my head.

They are comfortable and don't make a suction on the ear at all. The ear cover is soft and non-abrasive.

How I tested them: First, I wore my ear plugs AND muffs. Next, I wore just the ear plugs. Finally, I removed the plugs and wore just the muffs.

Thoughts:
The sound-dampening quality works well. However, my ear plugs, which have a lower NRR, block more sound than these earmuffs. I am not sure why since the plugs are only rated rod 33dB, one point lower. The difference was slight, however, and I felt I had adequate protection while practicing with my 9mm.

My hearing is important, so I got these to use in conjunction with my ear foamies. They did a wonderful job combined, and I felt the hearing protection adequate for shooting the 45. I am thankful to have received a sample pair to try.

I will definitely be using these earmuffs in future target practicing sessions. For the price, these are an excellent choice. While I received a discount on these, I do believe in this product.
