About the authors
Sun Tzu is thought to have been a military general and adviser to the king of the southern Chinese state of Wu during the sixth century BCE. Although some modern scholars have called his authorship into doubt, the world's most influential and enduring treatise on military strategy, The Art of War, bears his name.

He had been mistranslated and interpreted over and over to the point that it was like a game of broken telephone.
The main difference between this and other translations is that this actually makes a lot of sense and can be applied. I remember reading other translations and almost invariably they had some passages that just didn't make any sense. They were meant more for quoting and learning some wisdom. And while technology of war certainly has good quotes and will make you wiser, it is first and foremost a book containing knowledge that is made to be applied. Even the translator's introduction is very interesting and enlightening.
Its a really good one and I highly recommend it.
Over the years I have read five different versions of Sun Tsu "the art of war". All of them were different and none really gave me an understanding of Sun Tsu's reasoning. They all seemed like dis -related fortune cookies strewn together. Finally I understand, finally someone has taken the time to go back to the original works. This is powerful information. This is real technology.
Colin Thorne has done something for which I am eternally grateful! I understand Sun Tsu, I understand his reasoning and most importantly I can use his technology to better my future and the future of my businesses. A great read!
In earlier texts, it was very difficult to understand what Sun Tsu was really saying and what he really meant. There are several examples of this in this book's introduction. However, his wisdom came through to some extent even in the poor translations. His was far in excess of the later people who commented on his works - their comments were often included in addition to the translator's version of the original text.
This is the one - this opens the door to really utilizing the wisdom that says the best general is not the one that wins 150 out of 150 battles, but the one whose cause is victorious without battle.
This technology applies to many aspects of living. It is a way of going about things.
Thank you for the work done to bring this masterpiece into an understandable form. I highly recommend this book, especially for people looking for guidance on how to strategize anything form a full scale war to managing a business and expanding despite competition. You need to know how to evaluate information and understand orders of importances. Sun Tzu was a master.
The Technology of War has the be the best translation available, and you can immediately see why this book (The Art of War) has remained relevant over the last 2500 years.
