I've also paid $15-20 at drug stores for pairs that were trash. The biggest difference I would note in comparison to the budget brands is the quality of the lenses on these Sunbelts. I get great visibility with these.
They appear to be of good quality and I expect them to hold up well, but so far I am very pleased.
Originally purchased these back in 2010. Loved them, but the nose pads/guard did rattle a bit (easily fixed with needle nose pliers). Got another pair in 2015 & were perfectly fine (no rattle), but they did feel slightly lighter than the older one. Just bought my 3rd pair even though my 2nd pair still looks great after 2 years of daily use. It's always good to have a spare backup.
By the way, while there are people who don't like the small "S" logo on the lens, it hasn't bothered me over the years and I don't see it when I'm wearing them since it's out of view.
UPDATE: Got my 3rd pair and they came warped/uneven frame with both nose/pad arms bent way back and at different angles. Could've probably fixed it by bending the frame the opposite direction. I have always had the worst luck in trying to bend nose pad arms evenly back into place, so I just opted for a replacement.
4th pair was somewhat okay, but one of the nose pad arms was bent all the way back like the 3rd pair. For the most part I was able to bend it evenly with the other side. Also, both black ear pieces also came out during shipping because the Amazon employee just shipped it in a big box without any air cushions or anything. They're easily glued back on so not a major problem, but still annoying.
Definitely returning these things.
UPDATE: OK, so you can definitely tell there is polarization, it's just that the overall darkness is pretty light. I may decide to keep these and purchase a different pair that is darker...
