I like this enclosed hose reel. They are also sold at a local store for a little higher price than Amazon, so now I have 2 of them. Easy to use and they look great. Just make sure your connections have a new rubber hose gasket and only hand tighten as the connections are plastic. Highly recommended.

For the price this is a pretty nice product. It is cheap plastic and the handle likes to bend if you try to fit a 100' hose. This will not actually fit 175' and that was the only reason I marked it down. I could barely fit in my 100' hose, it was grinding the edges on the last round about. For the price I would have given it five stars if it would actually fit the size of hose it is supposed to. It is cheap feeling but it is because it was cheap.

Worked well when new but I have it in full Arizona sun in my front yard. After a year the plastic pieces became brittle and the crank very difficult to turn to wind up the hose. The sliding piece that goes side to side has to be moved by hand every couple or crank turns because it got frozen in place and would no longer easily slide. Thus the hose bunches up in places and has to be totally unwound and try again in order to fit the entire hose on one roll inside. I would buy it again if they could find a way to make it last longer in the elements. Otherwise, unless you are keeping it in an very sheltered area, probably consider another type of hose storage.

I rarely review items on Amazon and when I do, it generally is to give a glowing recommendation. This time unfortunately, I would like to help people steer clear from a product that I found to be overly cumbersome. I had already purchased a more "standard hose reel for my backyard just a couple of days before the Suncast Hose Reel arrived. The standard reel did not have a "housing box" but same essential process for attaching the hose to the reel and winding it up. I chose the Suncast because of its aesthetic since it would be visible from the street. I use it to water the plants in my front yard. Attaching the hose was not a problem at all.....

Winding the hose was an entirely different story. There is a guide attachment that I assumed would help distribute the hose evenly across the reel. I WAS WRONG. The guide just sat in the corner of the housing box and would attempt to wind the entire hose on one side. Even when i moved it to the other side of the housing box, it would immediately return to the far corner position.

To add insult to injury, the handle repeatedly (and I am talking at least 20 times) snapped right off the housing box during reeling. No matter how slow or fast I tried to wind the hose, the handle would just fall right off. It also came with two stakes that didn't add any sturdiness to the reel. It took over 30 minutes to successfully get the hose reeled completely in the housing box. Once finished I was drenched in sweat as if I had run a marathon. No one should spend money to work that hard unless they are going to a gym.

Good hose reel to keep things neat and tidy. I originally wanted to use a wall mount unit but given the tight space available and mounting options, this was the best way to go.

Construction seems fairly solid. Plastic for the most part but easy to hookup and setup. The hose fittings took a bit of careful threading as the threads are plastic on the hose reel so you can cross thread very easily. Other than that, fairly smooth. So far it has been exposed to cold weather and rain. Not direct sun yet but the area I have it kept in does not get much sun so I am not anticipating warping issues with it. Will update the review as needed. But so far so good.

Now I don't have a hose pile in the backyard as it is neatly wound up in the box.

this product looks nice however the parts inside are plastic and you will want to be careful that you don't put to much pressure on them or they could snap and I would make certain you bring it into a storage area over winter where it is out of the elements if your winters are really cold

Pretty good idea, looks better on the patio than a coil of hose. Works pretty good, although it does jump around when you wind in the hose due to it's light weight. I may bolt it to the wall for more stability. Pretty happy with it overall.
