Red chili paste ("gochujang" in Korean) is one of the essential seasoning ingredients in Korean cooking. For authentic Korean cooking, other hot sauces cannot replace the unique taste and texture of gochujang. Gochujang is used in numerous korean dishes such as bibimbap, spicy rice cake ("dduk bok gi") and spicy chicken (or pork) bulgogi. It is also used to make various stews and dipping sauces, like "ssamjang" (dipping sauce for lettuce wrap). Chung-Jung-One Gold Red Chili Paste is rich in flavor and color. Sunchang (brand) has been a reputable and popular brand in Korean for many years, especially in gochujang. The color may become darker as time goes by due to the continued maturing of the paste. It is safe to eat.

being half korean i cant live wthout this stuff. great for marinades , soup, whatever :). if you're using it more like a dip for cucumber spears make sure to add some soy sauce, seasame oil and seasame seeds to thin it out otherwise its too gummy. the paste is also great for rice and lettuce wraps! I get mine at the korean store/asian market. worth the extra and maybe awkward feeling trip but they are so used to any and everyone coming in that store that if anyone feels odd it will only be you. only drawback on this product thru amazon is the price. good lord! wouldnt pay 1/2 the price in a store. there are different types of paste so make sure youre getting this one!

I have been buying this gochujang from Sunchang as far as I can remember. Recommended to any Korean food lover! You can use this for other type of cooking, not just Korean. I use sometimes to make pasta, and it adds nice spicy flavor. Love it!

Thia was a great mistake, I thought it was the powder but its the paste, I mainate bonless chicken breast in soy sauce a little sugar and rice wine vinager. Then put this rub on(sparcely) and do on a gril pan about 7 min. per side and boy is this great.

I'm not very familiar with Korean cuisine but I've been hooked on this sauce since I tried it at a Korean restaurant. A little goes a long way and it's easy to add more or less for a mild or bold spiciness. It adds a delicious chili taste with a sweet note - it is similar to Sriracha but I find the taste of the Gochujang stronger, a bit sweeter, and more delicious. I love to add it to homemade fried rice, soup, and stir-fried vegetables. The paste is thick, so I usually dissolve it in soy sauce, broth, or a small amount of hot water to flavor a large dish evenly. The tub will last the casual cook like me ages!
