I really liked the first book in this series but this one took a disappointing turn. The story overall was interesting with lots of potential but there was way too much focus on Lyr and Meli's relationship. Lyr was presented in the first book as a noble lord and in this book you mostly hear about his desire for Meli. I had hoped to continue the story of Aryln but she was almost a minor character in this book. The relationships (soulbonded) were too rushed and unbelievable. Also, I wish there had been a little more character building. Unfortunately, I did not like it enough to continue the series.

While I loved the first one in large part because of the development of some excellent characters, this second installment is far less intimate and charming. It's much more about the building of the larger world now, along with creating the major conflicts, and so steps outside what I thought was the author's biggest strength: the conception and development of complex and suitably noble (or villainous) characters to people a beautiful fantasy earth. I really enjoy Ms. Adams' writing, and for a second effort, this is a good one. I suspect she will improve and grow with time, and I intend to follow her writing, likely for a very long while.

This is the second book in this series, and like the first, a joy to read. The characters are interesting, the plot moves along nicely, and the writing/editing well-done. You don't have to read the first book in this series to enjoy this one, but doing so, will give you a better sense of these characters. Also, this is a complete book. Unlike some authors, Ms. Adams doesn't leave you hanging at the end, wondering "What the heck just happened here?" Because she does tie the different plot points together and give you a complete read, you can read this book and not feel like you were scammed. Looking forward to the next book in this series.

Characters are developed more fully and we meet some new ones. Ms Adams does a great job of continuing world building and I can imagine Moranaia in all of its forest majesty. Her elves and other fae are more complex than drawn in some other fantasy series and each have their foibles and even insecurities, be they hero or villain. A little passion and romance sprinkled in to keep things interesting as well, generally tastefully done. Look forward to the ongoing series. There is a lot of potential in this world she has created for exploring other fae races, as well as factions within the elves. Great reading, editing is sharp and not a lot of typos or grammar errors to distract from the great story. Glad I found this series!

The second of the series introduces a new cast with some familiar faces, which was a bit difficult for me at first. I really liked the lead characters of Soulbound and had to adjust to them being supporting characters. But Adams knows what she is doing. By the middle of the book, I liked the new leads a much as, if not more, than those I grew attached to previously.
The storyline was original and creative, which can be difficult in an episodic series. Again, Adams encourages people to be a bit nicer and more open with her storytelling. Although this novel includes soul bonds and their effect on the elves, this story focuses more on individual value and the dangers of measuring everyone with the same criteria. She leaves you encouraged and more encouraging.
Again, a sweet and entertaining story that resounds seemingly without intending to.

Arlyn and Kai have made a home together and her father has gotten over his shock and unrest over it. But things are not good in all of the rhelms. Sickness and madness is taking over some of the areas. The lands are being poisoned, by what and by whom no one knows yet. Lyr governs the lands and resolve issues. When a delegation arrived from a people long forgotten, he is surprised by the young woman leading them, as his soul cried out for her.
Things are not as they seem, and again an assassin attempts to kill first Kai then Lyr. Who is behind this problem?? And who is poisoning the magic?? Kai's father captures Lyr for reasons only a madman could think of. But.....Things are still problematic.
This book is fascinating and I was impressed by the intricacies of the story .
Read on my friends.

This book has more of a serial feel to it than the first, but it’s still a satisfying journey. Characters are more deeply fleshed out, including some who are revealed as being not quite what they seem. The plot of this second book isn’t as self-contained as the first, which is understandable. But the author doesn’t end on a cliffhanger, instead relying on the quality of her work to draw the reader into the next purchase. I’ve already purchased the third, which oddly is a novella. Perhaps she’s taking a side trip before continuing the journey. Anyway, this one too is highly recommended.

Awesome world building, intricate plot and wonderful characters . Cannot wait for book three!!!!
I absolutely enjoy all the connections between the different fae, elves, Nordic and Celtic. The magic is easily understood, the editing is first rate. High fantasy at its best. Very enjoyable and refreshingly different than so many books in this genre.

Not terrible but too slow. I wont be reading anymore in this series. Also just an observation most of these book series that start with afreebie are not really individual books at all. The story just stops and then you have to buy the rest to continue reading bit of a con really.

After reading the first book, "Soulbound" I was so hooked that I instantly downloaded this one too.
The second book follows two different characters, Lyr and Meli. I loved Lyr from the first book so I was so happy to get to know him more. To be honest, I think I prefer book one as I wasn't sold on the relationship in this book. But I loved the characters individually.
The world building is brilliant and the setting is fascinating. It's obviously not perfect but the story is fast paced and addicting enough for me to want to buy the rest of the series!
I really like this series, it is a unique and interesting YA featuring elves, romance and adventure. I would definitely recommend giving this a go.

Great

There is a certain format to these books (I have read all five). Each book focuses on a specific character not previously encountered, who will quickly meet his or her love interest, but the situation will be such that he or she will be convinced it will not work - as will the other party - and they spend the book struggling to get together. It has the potential to be cheesy and awful, but instead is very enjoyable.

Disappointing

This book did not live up to the first book. I felt it was rushed and the writer did not know where she was going with storyline.
It could have been so much better if the writer had developed the relationship between Kia and his father and Relan and his family.
The choices made by lyrs, which put his life and his families life endanger was illogical. On one hand he had bodyguards for his daughter and himself and then the writer would put them in dangerous situations without the assistance of bodyguards.
I skimmed parts of this book just to get to the end.
