The main reason I bought this model is the lift range, which is the best I found for the price. I can go from the car on the floor to sitting on 4, 20 inch tall jack stands in less than 5 minutes.
As a test I left the car supported by only the jack over night and the jack held the position without settling. (But always use jack stands for safety)
To me this is not a heavy jack, in fact it seems about on par with most similar sized steel jacks. When it arrived (on a pallet), I just opened the box and lifted it out. I guess it depends on what you are used to. It rolls easily even on my somewhat rough and sloped (5 degree) driveway. It doesn't get hung up any more than my other shorter jacks; it does sit low, and of course will drag on concrete boundaries, etc. Obviously if you're getting a low jack like this, you should be using it on a clean, flat and smooth concrete surface.
Minimum height is as listed, 2.75 inches at the highest point on the pad. The height is under 2.75 for 9 inches from the pad center, and then it slightly ramps to 3" high at the "neck" which is 16 inches from the center of the pad. It measures 18" from the far edge of the pad to the neck, and although there is steel under the lip of the pad, I don't think I would lift a car with the lip. So I would say this jack's real throw is actually 16", not 18" as stated.
The handle requires very little movement to lift, about 1 - 2 inches, so if you're in a tight spot you can still use it. The full handle is 51.5 inches from the floor when vertical, and 30 inches without the extension. The handle stays in the same place after pumping, it does not spring forward or back.
First pump lifts to 6.5", second pump to 10.25, third pump to 13.75. Max height is 24.25". The linear offset is about 10.5 inches at full height.
Will be straightening the cross bar on mine. That may help but the body itself is so close to ground level it will still drag over any irregularity. May go so far as to change the rear casters to gain even 1/2" of clearance. Might suggest the manufacturer does the same. Not enough to really make a difference in clearance under car (with the long body length) but enough to allow this very heavy jack to actually roll into position to use instead of dragging on any ant that happens to cross its path.
Hockey pucks are a life saver (not the candy) use on both jack and stands... Had a car slide off stands before, never again. Now I'm thinking I might weld up my own T-handle....
This jack seems as well built as any consumer level jack in its capacity range. No care was given to the finish of the parts. That is, they're cut/stamped and welded with no finish grinding at all. splatters and funny angles. Ugly, but it works. Imagine its so heavy because they'd rather spend their money on shipping and over build it, than pay for qc and building it lighter.
you get what you pay for.
