Product Description

Sunflair® Solar Ovens are affordable, fun and easy. They're also highly portable, weighing only 1lb, 2 oz. and folding down to the size of a seat cushion. • Cooks for 4-8 people. Deluxe Kit comes with everything you need to get cooking: 1 solar oven, 2 collapsible silicone pots, 1 3-lb round roaster, 2 baking/dehydrating racks, 2 heat conducting/baking trays, 1 solar oven thermometer, 1 carrying bag • State-of-the-art closed cell insulation. Oven can reach temperatures of up to 285 F. Temperature varies depending on season and location. Compare to slow cookers that range between 180 - 300 F or a stovetop that reaches 212 F (boiling) with simmering at 180-190 F. Simmering is a gentler method of cooking, ensuring more tender and flavorful food. • Four-season cooking below 40 degrees latitude and three-season above. A UV index of 3+ is best for solar cooking. • Oven folds to 2 x 15.5 x 19 inches. Silicone pots collapse to 2 cm. Good to 485 F. Pots are dishwasher, microwave, and oven safe. • 30-day money-back guarantee. 1-year warranty. • Starter Recipes: White Rice: 3 cups water, 2 cups rice (wash only if required). Heat water until small bubbles can be seen (approx. 194 F). Place rice into the water and give a tiny stir. Leave in oven 20-40 min. or until done. • Whole Chicken: 1 whole chicken, thawed, 1 tbsp. salt, 1/2 tsp. pepper, 1 1/2 tsp. paprika, 3/4 tsp. thyme, 3/4 tsp. garlic powder. Mix ingredients and sprinkle evenly over chicken. Place roaster in preheated oven for three hours or until done. • Sunflair® Solar Ovens provide more than the free power of the sun. They are a gateway to a better world. Almost half the planet's population still cooks over wood fires, which contributes to health issues, deforestation, and climate change. Our ovens enhance the quality of life for everyone who uses them, and even those who don't! This is why Sunflair will donate a portion of our proceeds toward providing a safer, healthier, and greener cooking experience for all.

This is an extremely well designed portable solar oven. It folds up to a very easy to store size. We have used it traveling in a small camper for the past month and have cooked the majority of dinners with it. It is July and we are currently in Alaska, using it as far north as Fairbanks. Right now we are in Homer, AK on Cook Inlet with full sun and strong winds. With air temperature of 56 degrees, the oven stayed at 175 degrees - pretty impressive. At home in Oregon (45th parallel) it consistently stays at 200 degrees as long as there's sun). A lot of our food is prepared and dehydrated at home so heating and rehydrating are the most common tasks for it. For spaghetti tonight, I put in two pots, one with sauce and one to preheat the water. It only took a few minutes on the stove to bring the preheated water to boiling for the pasta. I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting a simple easy way to cook while camping. I purchased the deluxe version and would replace it asap if anything happened to it.

This is one of the best solar oven I have ever had. I have made six difference model solar ovens and used them all. But was never able to make one this portable that worked this good. I highly recomend this oven.

I purchased this oven in a deluxe package a few weeks ago and highly recommend it for anyone living in a sunny climate. This is my first experience with solar cooking. I love the design and materials involved in this production. I considered several different styles and researched products for a quite a while before deciding on the Sunflair solar oven.

I live in sunny central California and although the portability factor was important, I am planning to use this oven primarily at home. I use my slow cookers in general and often. I roast lots of meats and veggies in a counter-top convection oven. This time of year, I want nothing in the kitchen that adds heat. Lower cooking temperatures help to maintain nutrients in foods and in some cases actually enhance nutritional factors.

Recently I did my own in-home study of electrical usage and kWh used by various devices. A Smart Meter was installed last year and I can go online to see daily and hourly use. I was dismayed at the net carbon footprint of my slow cooking ways. The Sunflair solar oven is an elegant solution that makes the environmentally conscious part of me very happy.

I am amazed at how quickly the oven preheats and was pleasantly surprised at the consistent heat levels. The basic package includes a nice thermometer with range indicators that help with determining the boiling point of liquids. The vendor responded quickly to my emails full of first time questions. They have a very nice website with information and recipes [...]. The materials used in the construction are sturdy and the design is very effective. The oven itself is lightweight but the food and cookware is heavy enough for a cooking unit to sustain lighter winds with ways to further anchor for heavier gusts.

I bought this in Sept. of 2013 but I didn't use it until last summer. I can say it worked well. First we made a roast and used the metal roaster and it turned out juicy with the potatoes and gravy also I the pot it made for a great dinner. We also made bread and brownies and they turned out pretty good as well. Unfortunately the sun went behind some clouds and we had to finish the brownies in the oven for a few min.
The reason for the 4 stars is because the rack melted the fold of the reflective area and it needed to be fixed with duct tape. You have to place the racks on one of the cooking sheets for this not to happen, so you really only get one useful baking sheet. This is not good if you want to dehydrate more than one tray of food or bake more than a few cookies.

UPDATE: (8/5/15) I have been cooking in my solar oven a lot, especially since it's been in the 100's here in TX. I have discovered a couple things in the last year or so.First when you cook bread make sure you do it in loaf pans because bagguettes spread out too much and flatten out into long blobs. Thick brownies take about 4 hours when cooked in a 9x9 pan and lastly it's going to become my back up solar oven because it's limited in getting hot enough. I'm going to be getting an All American Solar Oven because it gets hotter. This little thing is great! but for serious users of sun ovens go with the hard sided with reflectors. However, if I have a large group to cook for I will be pulling this thing out and know it will be reliable.
That's my 2 cents... hope I helped!

I live in British Columbia and I love my Deluxe Sunflair Solar Oven. It included all the pots, racks, trays, and thermometer!! It took the guess work out. Set up took a minute, got up to temperature, and I was cooking. We really enjoyed the cookies and roasted chicken that we cooked on it. I really like how it has 2 racks for cooking like my regular kitchen oven. It's an excellent product and everyone should have one!!

This thing works great. Did canned chili, stews and corn on cob so far. Cooks up fast. Love the temp gauge. I bought a "defective" one at a discount. It didnt fully close so I took some velcro and stuck them along the sides to make a complete seal. Works great. Love the collapsible dishes. Great for storage as its only a few inches thick when packed away. good item
