About the Author
Shimako Murai was born in Hiroshima, and was 17 when the atomic bomb dropped. As she was not in the city that day, she decided to devote her life to telling the stories of those affected, both directly and indirectly. Her plays have been performed around the world and won numerous awards.
Ben Jones won a scholarship to Oxford University to study Japanese, and after some years in Japan, returned to run a successful translation, typesetting and publishing business from his home in Kent, UK. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting and former coordinator of the ITI's Japanese Network.
