About Polycrystalline Solar Power
Polycrystalline silicon is a material consisting of thin wafers that are cut from a silicon crystal which has grown in several directions. This advanced surface texturing process provides polycrystalline solar panels with a higher power output than amorphous panels of the same dimensions, and makes them more cost and space-effective. These individual wafers are assembled into panels that are covered by durable, weatherproof tempered glass. Thanks to their efficiency and durability, these solar panels require virtually no maintenance once installed. This kit includes five Sharp polycrystalline solar panels that have a maximum power output of 130-Watts/7.6-Amps each.
Solar panels convert sunlight into an electric current; they do not actually store power. Sunforce Solar Power Kits are primarily used to recharge all types of 12-Volt batteries, including lead-acid automotive batteries, deep-cycle (traction type) batteries, gel-cell batteries, and heavy-duty (stationary type) batteries. When using these solar panels to run appliances on a regular basis, the use of deep-cycle marine batteries is recommended. This type of battery is designed to withstand the frequent charge and discharge cycles associated with solar panel use. This kit does not include a 12-Volt battery.
The included 50-Amp Pro-Series Charge Controller must be installed to prevent any connected batteries from overcharging. It can handle up to 750-Watts of total power from any number of solar panels. The charge controller will also keep any connected batteries from discharging at night.

Sunforce customer service was excellent. There were some kit pieces lost in shipping from the Amazon warehouse and Sunforce was able to promptly send everything I needed Fedex.

This appears to be a good product, but I have issues with the technical descriptions:
I'd like to see the Product description edited. Although this is billed as a 650 watt kit and is shown with 5 panels, the Product description at the bottom states there are only 3 panels (at 130 Watts each). Additionally, the top-section general description states a 50 amp controller, the bottom section indicates only a 30 amp controller.
For my following comments, I have used basic electricity formula of Power(P) (in Watts) = Current(I) (in Amps) times Voltage(E) (in Volts) or P=IE
The 50 Amp controller is described as being able to handle 750 watts and allows expansion of the system. But since 5 panels at 130 watts already equals 650 watts (54 Amps at 12 Volts), another 130 Watt panel would be 780 Watts (65 Amps at 12 Volts, somewhat above the rated capacity either in Watts or Amps, whichever you choose to use for the description.
My final comment and question is that this system is described as being ideal for 12 Volt charging, but that it automatically switches for 12 or 24 volts. So is the output of the solar panels nominally 24 Volt, with the controller determining final output to the battery? My guess is that it's only a 12 Volt output (650W/12V = 54.17A), so what is the purpose of stating it's auto-switching for 24 Volt?
Clarification on all these issues will help customers make appropriate choices.
