How It Works?
Solar panels convert sunlight into an electric current, they do not store power. Amorphous solar panels are created by spraying silicon onto glass in very thin layers, and are commonly known as thin film solar panels. This process allows them to be better at generating electricity in all lighting conditions, including cloudy or shady environments. Amorphous solar panels are best for smaller output needs, temporary set ups, and areas that do not receive predictable sun conditions. These solar panels ensure your lights will work anywhere, anytime!

Update (May 30, 2017): Both lights are still working very well and survived several New York winters outside. Had them up since October 2014.
Update 4/7/2016 - I explained my case to SUNFORCE shortly after I started having issues and they were nice enough to send me a new battery pack even though batteries are not covered under the warranty. I was holding off on putting them in as it was the middle of the winter and not in an easily accessible location for a quick change. Sometime weeks later the unit started working normally again. So I'm not sure if the issue was with the batteries, charging unit or something else, but everything seems to be back in order. My original unit, well over 2 years old with original battery pack is still functioning without issue.
Update 12/29/2015 - I have since purchase a second one of these units, in April 2015. A few weeks ago I noticed that after 7 months the battery has died. My original unit I bought a few months prior still works. This unit does get a lot more usage and the light does go on more often. Perhaps there is a direct correlation between usage and battery life? Not sure, but I'm disappointed the batter life was so short. Dropping down from 4 to 3 stars cause now I have to buy new batteries less than a year after I installed it.
I have had this installed for a few weeks now. It doesn't get a lot of action as it is mainly a security light behind my fenced in home. It sits above the sliding doors leading into my den. When my kids watch television at night they are always worried that someone could be standing outside of the sliding glass doors and windows looking in at them without them noticing. This light helps give them the reassurance that nobody is there as it would turn on automatically if someone walks near it.
This unit was very easy to install\mount and configure the three settings available to control light sensitivity, motion sensor distance and lighting duration. The light emitted by this unit is a very cool color light, not at all warm like what you would get with an incandescent light. I have attached a few pictures to show how it is installed on my home and the brightness of the light. My only concern with this light is with the battery life. How long will the battery last before I have to replace it? From what I can find online the battery replacement is about $10. Hopefully I can get a few years out of the battery. Time will tell...
I just bought another one and I plan on buying a few more for all around the house. I love the fact that I do not have to connect anything to a power outlet or to a light switch. Also, you can't beat the price.
Only issue I had was trying to get approval from my wife on where I could put the solar panel. Right now it comes down along a gutter downspout and behind a bush that gets a lot of sunlight. It hasn't died on me yet so I'm assuming it gets enough sunlight there.
I'll update if anything comes up.
For the first few months, these lights were fantastic. The motion sensors weren't the best, but they would eventually turn on when things got close enough. Then I noticed one started to fail, because it just didn't want to turn on. There wasn't much explanation for it - the solar panel worked, because I was able to verify its voltage was the same as the others in sunlight using a volt meter. The 3 switches were all at the same settings as the rest of the lights scattered throughout the backyard. There was no reason for it not to be working, aside from just being defective. I left it like that for several days, but then it started magically working again... For no reason. Then a few days later it stopped working again.
Now, jump forward in time another 7 months. 5 of my 6 lights are behaving in the exact same defective manner, where most of the time they just do not work. The solar panels are still spitting out volts just fine, so I believe the issue lie within the sensors, or maybe the lights themselves. In hindsight, I wished I had just wired up the whole backyard and not bothered with these solar lights, because the cost would have been about the same and I'd have had more reliable lights.
