Easy to install and super practical

My model S has a glass roof, and at first I didn't mind the tinted sun coming in, but then I tinted my side and back windows darker which accented the roof even more and made it seem even brighter and hotter than the surrounding windows. This mesh did the trick. Just enough light and ambient warmth coming through, very easy to install, and surprisingly shades out a good bit of the heat and light even on the hottest days.

What's even cooler, is that you can open the sun roof fully, and the air can still come through the mesh as if it were not even there, and still offers a bit of shade from the direct sun.

The reason I didn't give it a 5 star rating, was the price. I realize it's for a Tesla, but near $100 was pretty steep for the 2 piece insert even if custom made. A more reasonable price for the product could be $50-$60 price point.

Otherwise, works great!

The one complaint my wife had with her new Tesla is that it was too bright inside when it's sunny out, which is 95% of the time here in AZ. The panoramic roof didn't let of heat in, which she was worried it would, but it definitely lets a LOT of light in. I bought this cover after doing some research on the Tesla forums, and it solved the problem perfectly!! Not only does it block out 75% of the light when the panoramic roof is closed, but it also allows us to open the roof for fresh air without the blinding sun glaring down on us. Integrated motorized roof shades would be an awesome option for Telsa to add, as well as motorized rear windows shades like you do on a lot of other full size sedans in this price range.

Yes they are expensive, but you can't put a price on making your car so much more pleasurable to drive.

Exactly what I needed... To reduce both the heat and the overhead brightness from my Model S' panoramic sunroof. I just drove 8 hours and the sun didn't bother me at all through the sunroof. Before, I would sport a baseball cap to shade me from the sun.the shades absolutely reduced the amount of heat that got through the sunroof. I drove up to 80mph with the sunroof 100% open.... No problems. There was no excessive wind blowing through the cabin. The shades stayed in place without any concern. The fact that insects will be kept at bay is also a big plus. I received a little placard that indicates my estimated time of charging completion, that I would put in my window to let others know at superchargers. This was a nice additional gift. Overall, I recommend it!

I love this sunshade! Totally worth the $60. It comes in a nice case and were very well made. Both shades were twisted flat to fix nicely in the compact case. The shades can easily be installed in the grooves of the Model S for a nice snug fit. It does a great job of keeping a lot of the heat from the sun out. But it also does something I didn't expect-cutting down on wind noise when the sunroof is open! Of course it does limit the amount of air coming in when the sunroof is open, but I think the trade-off of having less wind noise is a plus.

Overall, the product works great, does what it is designed to do. The reason I took one star off is because the forward panel isn't quite taut and doesn't fit as well as the rear panel. The combination of those two things means that there's a bit of sagging on the front panel, which likely isn't noticeable to others, but is definitely noticeable to me. Doesn't impact the function at all, just the appearance. Also, I'm sure the shade was sitting folded in it's pouch for quite a long time before I received it - there are some wrinkles in the forward panel that I'm hoping will eventually come out with time & exposure to the sun.

Really helps block the heat. I noted other reviewers said they didn't think it fit tight and had wrinkles. Mine fits perfect and has no sags or wrinkles. Pops in and out easily and stores conveniently. I haven't taken them out yet. I'm 6'2" and am no longer feeling the heat from pano roof. Tesla take notice! You are really really remiss in not having stock retractable shades! I think for what these shades are constructed out of that they are overpriced, but they work really well, so hats off to you the manufacturer for aggressive pricing, that probably will get undercut by an enterprising company in the future!

Good Fit for my 2018

After reading other reviews and answered questions, I almost didn't buy these. However, since Amazon has an easy return system I decided to give it a try.

I have a March 2018 Model S with a sun roof, I combination some will say doesn't exist.

The only issue I had was trying to determine which piece was for the front and then what was front on each piece. Once I correctly identified the pieces they fit very nicely.

My car has been noticeably cooler on sunny days, though the sample set is small since I got them. That is September in Seattle for you.

I was skeptical at first but after lots of massaging it works nicely. You have to "clap" with your hands from the top and bottom to massage it forward into the "valley". Slide the rear close to it's final place then start with the forward tucking it in the corners first then work to the back. It goes maybe 1.5 inches forward out of sight towards the windshield encasement. Once you have it clapped to as far forward as you can go start working to the back on each side, peeking under the sunroof glass to see that if falls into place in the rear. Moving to the back seat with the rectangular panel (tag to the front) easiest to use nylon/plastic trim tools gently work one corner then the other corner then the forward edge to the front - it's not easy but it will fit snugly as you'd want it to. Work the sides half way then - important - take the rear screen wire edge and gently move it forward until you can get the rear corners into a place you can nudge them into the fit gently with he trim tools. It take a little here then there. Can't do it without a tool. Take your time.
