This is an atypical Blake Edwards film, starring Bruce Willis (as Tom Mix) and James Garner (as Wyatt Earp). Just for the Tango scene alone, it’s worth buying. Tom Mix is going to play Wyatt Earp in a film called Lawman. The producer hires Earp as an advisor and he and the actor form a friendship. The producer’s beautiful wife asks Wyatt for help. Her son works at the studio and he’s a drunk. Alfie, the producer, wants to know what she’s asked for. Of course he doesn’t get any information from Wyatt. Michael is suspected of beating up one of the women from a famous bordello. Tom and Wyatt discover the murder of the madam.
Although there are several disclaimers that this is not a true story, a lot of old Hollywood is in it. It COULD have happened. It’s not a Roman à clef but it flirts with it. I really enjoyed it.

One of my favorite films. James Garner and Bruce Willis are excellent together. One of my favorite lines is: “give or take a lie or two.”

This is an older obscure movie I had never heard of. It was a good movie! I was kinda surprised.

Enjoyable movie, good to watch after Tombstone.

Yes, it bounces from detective story to comedy to murder mystery, floating from light-hearted to dead serious, but it is consistently entertaining!

If you are a James Garner or Bruce Willis fan and love the era of Wyatt Earp and Tom Mix and the old western movies, then this is a must watch movie for you. James Garner portrays Wyatt Earp in the early Hollywood days who has been called in to consult on a movie about him with Bruce Willis playing a much bigger than life Tom Mix. The movie is being produced by the dastardly husband of an old love of Earps, and Earp and Mix get entangled in movie studio shenanigans, murder, madams and deep secrets. This is all done with the backdrop of the glitz and glamor of the old Hollywood studios, the richest of the rich and lowest of the low. Just seeing the wardrobes and cars of the era are worth the time spent watching the movie. The dry wit of Garner along with hutzpah if Willis combine in a entertaining movie that one would like to believe was based at least on a little fact.

4.0 out of 5 stars film carino

5.0 out of 5 stars Ein Earp Film. Im Prinzip 2 Teil von Die Fünf Geächteten.
Zum Ablauf: Perfekt. OVP. 1A Verpackung.
Zur DVD: Original deutsche Synchronisierung. Bild für eine DVD sehr gut. Ton sehr gut.

5.0 out of 5 stars so even if the film wasn't any good, he still would be
For a start, it has James Garner in it, so even if the film wasn't any good, he still would be. In fact, it's a good film - very enjoyable, and rather thought-provoking. I lent it to someone, but when it comes back I'll watch it again, as it was great fun and very well done. And genuinely tense, too.
