Eric: a mild mannered college student/professor. He is perfect in every way. He has goals, dreams, and plans. What I loved about Eric was the basis for his character was hard work! He was goal oriented. Trying to get his beloved radio program off the ground he works tirelessly. All he wants is to have admin take the plan to make it reality. Keeping income in mind he works as a personal trainer at "The Club". There are times when he is almost too good to be true. I guess for someone in his situation he wants to finish his Masters Degree Program and get that MBA. You know to me he is Rupert. Young, good looking, smart with a nice haircut. I will say nice butt too, but Ive never seen it, Tina told me so.
All along I admire his goals. Not one time does he go, get drunk, have random sex and live to regret it. That is not Eric. So, yes I am in love with him.
The book explores the character of Eric in great detail. He does fall for a married woman, oh well. So it may not be the choice he would make, but the heart wants what it wants. What I LOVED was how the author makes the choice to show that two people can have an affair that is not physical. When you cross the imaginary line, there is no going back. Can you call that adultery? I dont know but I think so. It doesnt take away from me loving the hell out of Eric.
The author shows the extreme passion he has for Radio Broadcasting. He goes into battle mode with the administration thus proving he is a man of honor. He cares about this program, his goals and his students. There is a lot of politics between him and the university. Overall another interesting part of the story that shows he is so intelligent.
Eric has Renae his best friend. They know each other through the industry for years. She has a kid and is married. Her marriage goes into turmoil and this is another dilemma. Eric has big feelings for a married woman and his best friend is battling her husbands indiscretions. So another score for the author here. He shows how an affair can be emotional, imaginary or physical and have consequences. Renae is a great girl, a friend to Eric, and a business associate. She plays a vital role being Eric's confidant.
Now Tina...my heart hurts for her because I feel like I know her. There is so many sides to her character. She is very caring, a great mom and has strong faith. I wont give plot away, but I will say that again I applaud the author for having the courage to be bold with her. She is obviously not happy with her husband of 14 years Doug. Tina is so strong and although never actually said the words, it is understood she would not enter into a physical relationship. There is some of the best dialogue between Eric and Tina while they are trying not to cross the line.
I cant say enough about this book! I now have book 2 and I gotta go start.
Since it was a long book, nothing was rushed here. The slow-burning desire that Eric and Tina have for each other could be felt with every turn of the page and every encounter they had. Sometimes I felt like I wanted to yell at Tina for doing so many 180s on Eric that it was diving me as nuts as it was driving him nuts. It’s obvious this author has a keen understanding of the female mind. :)
I could completely empathize with Tina’s situation too. She’s finding herself attracted to Eric on many levels, but is married and not quite sure how to deal with that. Eric, on the other hand, has a good handle on life and his goals. Of course his life changes when the woman of his dreams walks into his it.
One complication after another for the two until they were nearly together by the end of the book (Man, was I pulling for them by that point!). One thing about a really good story is you don’t want it to end. And by the time I got to the last page I could see there was much yet in store for Eric and Tina. It looks like this is just the beginning to a really long and enjoyable story. Can’t wait to read the next installment in the series!
Eric is a professional by day, working tirelessly to get his radio program off the ground. By night, he works at a local health club. Eric is a personal trainer and also does orientations at the health club, where he meets Tina. He discovers that she is married and has children, although he is intrigued and fantasizes about her. He knows that he shouldn't mess around with a married woman, although at the same time, he doesn't care, he wants her. Eric doesn't feel that Tina is being treated properly by her husband. Therefore, it's as though he justifies his feelings for her due to this. Is it right? Does that make it justified?
Eric also has a "foxy" friend named Renae. He worked with her for a bit, at a radio station, until they parted ways. A couple of years later, they rekindled their friendship. Renae loves his punctuality and his friendship. He wants to confide in Renae about Tina, but at the same time he feels wrong doing so, as her husband left her for another woman. She tells Eric that it's okay to open up to get and he should not hesitate, due to her circumstance.
Eric finds himself falling for Tina more and more. At the beginning, Tina finds ways to run into him. She even went in search for his house one day while walking her dog, Zeus. This makes it even harder for Eric to stay away from her. Soon things get to the point where they are being discovered, so they have to sneak around. Their affair gets heavier and heavier, and deeper and deeper. What are they going to do now? Can they keep the affair going?
EJ Caulder wrote this book in a type of diary format. This may be another reason as to why it just didn't do it for me. I felt it to be a tad cold as far as formatting goes. Again, the book is well written, therefore I would hope that you can be the judge for yourself. Happy reading!
