This novella is the first in the Cursed in Stone series. The narrative linking all novellas is the character Constantine (Con). As a warrior during the time of the crusades, he fell in love with a woman who was promised to be the bride of a demon by her father. When the demon found out about their love, Con was cursed to live as a gargoyle, only able to walk as a man during the three days of each full moon. In this first novella, Con awakens at a bed and breakfast in Oregon. He hears a voice telling him to find the stone, and he thinks that by doing so, he can break his curse. In the meantime, we’re introduced to Nate and Haylee. Nate is looking for a reprieve from the job and life he doesn’t truly enjoy. He crosses paths with bed and breakfast owner, Haylee, after crashing his car in front of her home. Nate and Haylee are immediately attracted to each other; but Haylee and her family is cursed – doomed to fall in love and lose their husbands. Nate and Haylee accidentally unleash a dark magic while touring the B&B one day, and have to work together to stop the evil before being defeated by the curse themselves. And in doing so, they may also find a way to help Con as well.

This was a really fun story. Quickly we’re drawn into magic, intrigue, and romance between the two main characters. What could be described as “insta-love” can sometimes be cheesy, but I didn’t really feel that in this story (and it’s even addressed towards the end). The pace is quick and you find yourself happily reading to find out if Nate and Haylee will prevail. I really enjoyed this first part of the series and am looking forward to the next.

Aspiring author, Nate Wilson decided a week away from his overbearing family and the job he didn’t like would get his creative juices flowing but his plans are derailed by a storm, a ghost and a beautiful owner of a bed and breakfast in this bewitching gothic romance.

Haylee Clark has done well avoiding the curse all the woman in her family have suffered until Nate crashes into her life and awakens something within her and the readers can’t help but become ensnared in the story as the chilling reality of the curse threatens more than Haylee and Nate’s hearts. The romance is sweet with sizzling heat but the curse has quite a chilling effect as it tries to tear them apart which has lots of spine tingling shivers running up and down readers spines as the couple try to defeat the evil behind the curse. The characters are strong, compelling and atmosphere of the story is deliciously spooky ensuring that readers are completely glued to the pages of this well written, fast paced and smooth flowing romance.

The overall plot of the series also adds to the delicious chill of the atmosphere and more intrigue and spice to the story and I can’t wait to find out what happens next.

Received this book for an honest review from the author.

This is a short story of about 68 pages so things will happen somewhat quickly. Witches, ghost and gargoyles will appear in this story.

Come visit The Clark House in Lafayette, Oregon to experience the haunted bed and breakfast. No one stays for long. The right people will come together and lives will intertwine if the curse is not broken death is sure to follow. Breaking one curse will allow another one step closer to ending another’s torment.

It's been a long while since I've read a gothic-style romance but I loved this first book in the Cursed in Stone series. Haylee and Nate are perfect for each other. And I love how Constantine's story of trying to break his curse (he's a Knight of the crusades cursed for loving a woman promised to a demon) connects all the books in the series. I'm eagerly awaiting the next book in the series.

Cursed in Stone is a 5-book series from Lia Davis and Kerry Adrienne.

I love this book. It is the first in a series and I can't wait to read the rest of them to see if Constantine can find the rest of the stones and break his curse so he can be human again. Once I started reading I couldn't put it down. I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review. You will not be disappointed if you pick up this book.

Nate Wilson just wanted to get away from it all so he decided to take a week and go to the Oregon Coast. Unfortunately on a stormy night Nate ends up in an accident when a ghostly figure appears in the road in front of him. Lucky for Nate though he ended up right in front of a bed and breakfast and the owner invites him to stay.

Haylee Clark is a witch and she owns the bed and breakfast that is usually frequented by ghost hunters being that it is across from a cemetery and known for paranormal activity. Haylee herself believes she’s cursed or at least all the women in her family have been and their husbands die tragically. Haylee tries to keep her distance from Nate and her attraction to him but the two end up stumbling upon a hidden room where they they unknowingly unleash a dark entity.

Sunstone’s Fire is the first in the Cursed in Stone series. At novella length this little read is certainly full of action and romance. With ghosts, witches, magic, curses and a few other fun things I won’t mention and along with a steamy relationship developing there was never a dull moment.

Great characters and writing I’d certainly be interested in continuing on with the series and finding out where the overall plot ties in. Being the first in a series the ending does leave an opening for the next book but this story was resolved well enough in this one.

I received a copy from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
