Total crap. 4 thermometers and 8 re-calibrations later and it is still WRONG! Save yourself the headache and disappointment. Get this one instead CDN IRXL220 ProAccurate Insta-Read Large Dial Cooking Thermometer-NSF Certified

Thermometer instructions said to recalibrate by holding the hex nut and turn the face to adjust. Nothing will move, even while holding the hex nut with a wrench. Stuck tight.

It is not worth the effort and cost of returning the product. But I wanted you to know it doesn't work as designed. It came 15F degrees higher than normal and I can't recalibrate it.

I bought this thermometer because it was the cheapest one that had a "jacket" (the black tube with the clip) so that I could use it in my car to see how cold the air conditioning was. This thermometer works and is very accurate. I compared it to multiple thermometers at multiple points and it matched exactly, with the exception of the digital one. It was 0.2 degrees off.

Overall, this thermometer works great and I would highly recommend it. Just like any thermometer, it can be off, so all you have to do is calibrate it, which is simple.

To Calibrate:

Take 2 different fluids. One liquid should be at a temperature you know. Lets say you cooled the water to 40 degrees. The thermometer should read 40. Then take something else. Boiling water for example. Boil it at 212 degrees. The thermometer should read 212. If it doesn't, loosen the nut on the back and turn the dial until it reads 212. Then recheck the 40 degree water, and adjust the dial to read 40. Then re-tighten the nut and you should be good to go. You may have to check this a few times, but those are the simple instruction to calibrate it.

I hope this helps!

Works perfectly, it gives a reading very quickly. Just make sure you submerge it far enough into whatever it is you're trying to measure.
