The layout is gorgeous & the photos are truly stunning. I grew up in the 1970s with Super 8, and am a total photo gearhead, so I was hoping for much more info on all the legacy equipment & gadgets like Polavision, the Craven backwinder, anamorphic lenses, shooting in 3D etc. In addition to the technical info, there are essays which focus on the author's personal experiences with the format back in the day, as well as many interviews with pioneers in the field, including the publisher of Super 8 Filmaker magazine & notable Super 8 filmmakers from the past & present day.
In essence, it's a good all-around distillation of the format's history, but if you are looking for a deep dive on the technical side of Super 8, there are probably more in-depth resources online. As it is, for those of us that worked in the medium, it's a great trip down memory lane, and for those only discovering it now, hopefully it will light a spark inspiring them to keep the flame of Super 8 alive.
