From what I’ve heard about this game it definitely lives up to its reputation. It’s awesome! The game has hardly any wear and tear as you can see. Great condition considering how old it is and I’m very satisfied with that, however on the inside of the bottom of the cartridge there appears to be a piece missing on the left side. It looks like a little metal clip or something. I’m not sure if it’s supposed to be like that or not or what it even does exactly because other SNES games don’t have those. Either way the game works just fine and it saves (THANK GOD). It arrived in a decent amount of time. It was a little expensive but still 30 dollars cheaper than the copy they had at a used game store. I think it was worth the money because it is an old game and they don’t make them anymore. It’s a legitimate copy and a very famous game. I’m very happy to have it in my collection and I love to play it whenever I can. It’ll also be a great game for my son to play when he gets a little older. If you love Mario and love RPGs than you will not be disappointed with this game. I’m so glad to finally own this.

This was a bit of a late release on the Super Nintendo, and an interesting one as well. Nintendo granted the license to their flagship mascot Super Mario to SquareSoft in order to produce a turn-based RPG game starring Mario. It was a risky move, but it worked out extremely well. SquareSoft, well known for their high quality RPG series Final Fantasy, produced a Super Mario RPG that blends the gameplay elements of an RPG very nicely with the aesthetic of Nintendo's Mario characters.
While veterans of turn-based role playing games might find this game to be too simplistic, it does a nice job of introducing the gameplay and the mechanics to gamers unfamiliar with the staples of the genre. All the usual elements are present, such as adding new characters to your party, a level-up system, learning new magic attacks and abilities, items to help you during combat, stat boosters, weapon and armor upgrades, an overworld map, etc. Some interesting mechanics to keep the turn-based combat interesting are the inclusion of "timed hits" as well as "timed defense".
While RPG veterans might find the length of the game to be a bit too short for a traditional RPG, since this game is meant to serve as a gateway game to the genre, I find the length to be just right. It's neither overly long, nor is it too short, and because of the low level-up threshold (30 levels) grinding is minimal. The strongest feature of the game is the Mario theming though. Not only is it done well with regard to visuals, music, and sound, but the interactions of the characters as the story progresses is very amusing. Bowser eventually joins Mario's party, and the interactions between Mario and Bowser are quite humorous. The game has a very zany story that unfolds which, like EarthBound, keeps it interesting to continue playing.
There are also some pretty neat secrets in the game, such as the bonus battle against Final Fantasy boss Culex (which ends up being more challenging than the game's final boss Smithy), and the game-breaking Super Suit (which requires the gamer to string together an incredibly difficult 100 super jump combo).
There are very few complaints about this game. Link from The Legend of Zelda and Samus from Metroid both make very brief cameos, and it leaves me wishing that SquareSoft had gone for an all-out Nintendo Mash game where Link and Samus joined Mario's team as playable characters, maybe even fighting Ganon and Mother Brain in turn-based combat. Also, Luigi is curiously absent, only appearing at the end of the game during the parade. Other than these minor nitpicks, the game is great.
As for the price, Super Mario RPG currently (in 2020) sells for $60-$70. This is a bit perplexing, because I recall the game at one point not too long ago going for as high as $80. If you insist on getting an authentic Super Nintendo cartridge of Super Mario RPG, I must caution you to inquire about the battery that powers the save function. With a dead battery, the game is worth considerably less, and replacing the battery is a risky endeavor, can damage the cartridge if you don't know what you are doing. One other option is to shell out $125-$150 and get the Super Nintendo Classic, which will allow you to create permanent save files for Super Mario RPG as well as the other great games included.

Hate/That the only picture I had seen was the front when browsing it, it had not discuss the back of the cartridge. (I was really ticked off) it has this pink make-up marked as "SB" and two more markings. Plus there are some minor scratches and a huge line scratch that almost affected the artwork which was slightly above it. There is also a Damn permanent graphical error which only appeared on the intro, ending, and the map screen, which displays green horizontal lines. Also I felt scammed, right away I did.

Love/It saves and doesn't look too bad and I can always replace the back. Also it shipped faster then a prime package which isn't that impressive to what I had received. There is nothing wrong inside the cartridge Which I mean there's no black mold, spider webs, and dirt.

This is one of the best games Nintendo ever created. Certainly, it's well worth your money, even though it's an expensive game. It has excellent 3D graphics that really fit the game play. I know graphics DO NOT make a game, but these graphics make the game better than it would be with horrible graphics. The story is engaging and absolutely hilarious at times. The inventory system is also well thought out. The battles are fun, and are never dull. The world map is also very pretty. The music is also very fitting to the game play, and very catchy at that. The Culex theme is also very pleasant to hear. But now, on to the most important part of this review, and the most important thing about the game itself: the game play. The game play is absolutely spectacular! Basically, it makes for a superlative game. Even though this game is expensive, you should get it. I hope that my review convinced you to get the game. It's one of the best games Nintendo made. By the way, I play it on the original console, and I would recommend that you do the same.

I had a bit of a scare when I first popped it into my SNES and it didn't come on the first couple of times I turned the system on. After blowing the dust out of the system and cartridge it came on just fine. The game runs smoothly now and has been fun to play so far. The graphics translate decently well to our TV as long as you aren't looking too closely. From the couch it looks great! Can't wait to play more.

I remember renting this game from my local video store every weekend. The product of an epic partnership between Nintendo and Square is expectantly masterful and Super Mario RPG delivers time and time again! I'll never forget the eye-popping grahics of this game in its hayday, and now its marvelously retro. I don't know what else to say about this game but BUY IT! BUY IT! BUY IT!
If I could only have one SNES game, this would be it.
