I didn’t notice until I went to wrap the gift on Christmas Eve. Not only was the game used, it was in BAD shape. Case was scratched, ripped, cracked and the inside looked like it was covered in fireplace ash.

    If you're coming into this game with the expectations brilliance of the two GameCube releases I had you'll be let down.

    What works: The core game and it's level designs are just as great as the titles from the past.

    What doesn't work: Everything else! While the core game works as good as the past titles what doesn't are the unnecessary need for boss battles at the end of every stage circuits.

    The game mechanics doesn't make this game ideal for boss battles. This can become frustrating by interrupting the game flow by putting a barrier between circuit progressions.

    What made the games from the GameCube era great were the party games. It was a second thought in Bananas Blitz and felt like it was thrown together without any testing. They just don't work are pretty useless which was a bummer.

    If you are looking for a challenging game that is suitable for all ages, you have found it with
    Monkey Ball. There is a main game, but also several party games that are a little easier to break up the challenges. Definitely a fun game, but sometimes you just want to throw the controller. Haha!

    I played the gamecube version of monkeyball a lot, but I never got a memory card, so I played the campaign a lot to see how far I could get. I think the single player for this game, while not as good, is still really fun, and the bosses are a nice challenge
    The reason this is four stars is due to the physical version of the game. I've never had this problem with a different game, but this game card sometimes isn't recognized by the switch, which can sometimes happen in the middle of the game. I haven't played the game enough for this to be a problem, so that's why I only docked off one star, but it could be really bad. Get the digital version if you have the storage space.

    First Monkey Ball game I've played and it's not bad. It's very challenging but once you get it down it's so rewarding to finish a level. I am glad that its apparently the only one in the series with boss fights, those are not super fun.

    After playing a bit more I found that they made changes to some of the levels that make things INSANELY DIFFICULT and not in a great way. Poles that you must cross have been given little to no resistance from falling off and with how sensitive the game is, even on the lowest camera sensitivity, this makes levels with these poles not fun in the slightest. I'll be happy to find out a way to cheese it and never play those levels again.
