The unit itself is tiny, it's smaller than a paperback book. It has short controller cords but I replaced the controller with a wireless one that is pretty much identical to the stock controllers except you can get out to the home screen easily by pressing "down" and "Select". Otherwise you need to get up and hit the reset switch on the unit itself, bah.
It has a bunch of great games, all your classic favorites. Earthbound is what I'm currently playing. You can save your game position and rewind through your last few minutes of gameplay and restart from the rewound position so if you make a mistake you can correct it. It makes things a little bit easier. These games are often uncompromising in their difficulty and it helps when you're playing as an adult who might not have the ultra-fast reflexes of a sugar-hyped preteen.
It's great as a nostalgia device but also for people like me who didn't have an SNES as a kid, these are great games in their own right.
I am happy I have one, as nintendo is playing a game with consumers creating a higher demand and intrest.
Only 5 minutes after receiving the snes I hacked it with hakchi. I now have Snes, Nes, Sega, and neo geo all built in making it one sweet retro gamer. I was never interested in the games that came preloaded so it's nice that these mods are available and easy to install.
4 stars for my bitterness. Amazon please learn how to handle preorders. You sold 1000's of units to people who never preordered that instead received a random text for a treasure truck. Bad form.
Unfortunately Nintendo's claim that they would be making enough to meet demand has again fallen short. As for the release of Star Fox 2. Well let's just say they did not make a mistake in cancelling that game. If you were to compare Star Fox to Star Wars. SF2 is the equivalent of Episode 1 with all characters replaced by Jarjar.
