The FIRST book is well written, and sets up the SECOND book as both a terrific payoff and cliffhanger at the same time.
I enjoyed this so thoroughly, that I am about to buy (and likely binge read) the third.
I loved the characters and laughed, cried, you name it. I feel like these are those special kinds of books that become part of your life. Thank you so much for brightening my life. I am recommending this to everyone that I know and hope that a lot of you out there will give this a try. Everyone has different taste, but I am a voracious and eclectic reader of paranormals, urban fantasies, space opera, futuristics, traditional fantasy, etc. If you like any of those kinds of books I think Super Powereds would be a great introduction into a new genre based on people with super powers.
The characters are relatable, each has a distinct voice, and they are all shades of gray - none of the characters is entirely good or entirely evil - they're just people. Add in to that the well thought-out framework of the Hero Certification Program, the well woven plot lines, and you've got a book that sucks you in and leaves you wanting more.
The rest of this series is just as good. So good, that I purchased all of them even though they were available through Kindle Unlimited. I've now read all of Drew's work that's available on Amazon and I look forward to many years of enjoying whatever he come up with next.
There are very few writers whose work I enjoy so thoroughly that I'm willing to read anything that they have published. That list, for me, is currently Isaac Asimov, Robert Heinlein, Terry Goodkind, and now Drew Hayes.
Buy all of his books, you will not be disappointed!
Good characters, strong story that is waxing not waning as time goes by. So many books simply fade over time, this story line is doing nothing save gaining my interest and steam.
Hoping to read number four soon.
All of these ideas come together in the first of four novels dealing with a college aged hero certification program and 5 new students that have gone from being broken "Powereds" into becoming full fledged "Supers" thanks to a secret that everyone wants to find out. Drew does a great job of blending ego with fears, power and uncertainty to create a new universe of wonder.
Lots of action, hormones, and language. Written for adults, not for young children.
