Super Rich: A Guide to Having It All Kindle Edition
Russell Simmons knows firsthand that wealth is rooted in much more than the stock market. True wealth has more to do with what's in your heart than what's in your wallet. Using this knowledge, Simmons became one of America's shrewdest entrepreneurs, achieving a level of success that most investors only dream about. No matter how much material gain he accumulated, he never stopped lending a hand to those less fortunate. In Super Rich, Simmons uses his rare blend of spiritual savvy and street-smart wisdom to offer a new definition of wealth-and share timeless principles for developing an unshakable sense of self that can weather any financial storm. As Simmons says, "Happy can make you money, but money can't make you happy."
In straight-talking inspiring chapters, Simmons provides unforgettable true stories from his own road to riches, delving into the principles and practices that have kept him energized and focused. Whether we're in the boardroom or on a yoga mat, Simmons says, we have to be able to listen to our inner voices. Finding our unique potential, we can make the right moves, ruled not by money but by the joy of conscientious living and giving. With these philosophies and more, Simmons brings us a stimulus package of consciousness that will never run dry, backed by the power of the higher self.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 20, 2012I purchased Super Rich at the end of July to head on a vacation in Costa Rica. It looked like it would be great vacation reading and having read Russell's other book, I thought I knew what to expect. Not only did it meet my expectations, it changed my life. I started reading it as the plane was about to take off and it had me hooked from the first page and I finished it before my plane landed in Costa.
The lessons I learned in that five hour period have completely changed my life. I literally went from struggling to take care of my family with a modest income to making $15,000 a month, within days of reading the book. It taught me valuable lessons about my self worth, how to stand up for what worked with my personal brand, and the importance of gratitude for every facet of our life, be it small or large.
I put Russell's wisdom to work while I was on vacation and had the most marvelous experiences by respecting everyone I met, whether they were a waiter, a bellman or a tourist. As my spirit embraced the message in Super Rich, I developed an appreciation for all the small things that I used to take for granted.
This past week, I had an opportunity to meet Russell and I told him my story and shared that I had purchased 25 copies of his book to share with my friends and family in the hope that his message would reach them as well. He told me that all of those gems of opportunity probably existed in me before I read the book and though I agreed, I know that Super Rich changed my life and I am Super Grateful.
Enjoy!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 2, 2014This is one of the best books Simmons has written. The title is misleading for people who are thinking only of money, it really is a spiritual book that gives great examples of the principles in action. Simmons shares his ideas about "giving away" your expertise and having a generous spirit, which in many of the chapters is also linked to an abundant life. Ultimately the book is about connecting with others and sharing your talents.
His excessive use of profanity and the N word is offputting to lots of people, but the message is worth wading through some of the redundant expletives.
The beauty of the book is that he truly embodies the example of reaching out to people in high and low stations of life, and has practical advice for living one's life in a purposeful way. Not preachy at all, very inspiring and worth a read for anyone who is tired of books that are full of platitudes and generalizations.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 22, 2011As an avid reader who enjoys personal development books, a woman who was growing p during the heyday of Russell Simmons reign as a hip-hop promoter, and a Yoga practitioner for the past 14 years, I was attracted to Super Rich largely out of a sense of curiosity about what this former young lion of hip-hop might have to say about Yoga and living a spiritual life.
I did not read his previous book, Do You!: 12 Laws to Access the Power in You to Achieve Happiness and Success, so this was my first taste of Simmons work, and I will say that I was not completely disappointed. So many spiritual and personal development books are written from a lofty, even pedantic viewpoint, but Simmons writes in a completely approachable, conversational style--almost as if he's sitting across from you at a coffeehouse sharing the wisdom he has gained throughout his life. The book is laced with profanity, but I imagine that's the way he talks, so it makes the work authentic to the author. Rather than the usual `preaching to the converted,' that often goes on with personal growth books, Simmons appeals to those who might never have picked up a book of this type before.
I love how, at the start of the book, Simmons explains that by Super Rich, he means cultivating a rich inner life, a deep spiritual connection, consciousness and compassion because when you have all of these things you are rich indeed and the material success will flow from that.
My favorite part of the book was where he writes about the connection between work and our spiritual connection to God. Simmons beautifully captures how our dedication to the work of our hands is worship. In the chapter, "The Work That Prays," Simmons talks about pouring yourself into the work without worrying about the results. Simmons writes, "Trust me, when you're consumed with seeing a material result from your work, you are going to miss out on the joy of getting rich."
I recommend this book because I enjoyed how it showed the transformation of a former drug dealing, hip-hop promoting, OG (original gansta) into a wise, compassionate man who seems to be a great father, a brilliant business man, and a philanthropist with a vision to do as much good in this world as is within his power. Read this book and then pass it along to someone who has a vision for their lives, but doesn't have a sense of direction. Super Rich: A Guide to Having it All, shows you how you can have it all when you focus on the inward journey first.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 2, 2015I remember getting Do You! For a graduation gift, since then I knew unc dropped jewels for life. Understandable jewels. That was almost 8, 9 years ago. After that a year or so ago I brought uncs meditation book (where I learned of this book) which slowly but consistently changed my life. I have always been a consistent seeker of God. I mean my tweeter name is @godseeking. But the point is that when u are seeking the outside world for God it starts to get confusing. Then u realize he is inside of u always talking and giving u signs throughout the universe. All we have to do is follow them. I appreciate this book because from unc level all the way down to my worldly level. It's the same truth. "The art and the artist our one". Our creator is great, and from experience so far I can say the best way to align with the universe is to start within. Because we our apart of it. Yall have a blessed day. ~dj

Kevin ChinReviewed in Canada on August 13, 20145.0 out of 5 stars Bomb Ass Book. A must have for any entrepreneur who wants to make it through an organic growth process.
You'll get a ton of grounded advice from someone who is looking to achieve success through holistic means.
From his views on meditation to hustling to being a vegan to hardships in life, this book has it all.
Doesn't mean he hasn't had his share of shady practices, but he's a person like anyone else, and he's the first one to admit it.
Get this book if you want to probe the mind of a contemporary entrepreneur who's made it.

The most helpful business yogi guidebook! Thanks Russell :)

I bought this for my 27 year old son who listened to the 5 CD's and would not stop raving how great they were. I then listened to them and I can honestly say they are brilliant and very inspirational and one of those assets which you can repeatedly return to when you need an inspirational boost. The thing we both liked is the fact the Russell Simmons tells you of past his experiences good and bad and shows how his actions were rewarded according to his deeds (Karma). The changes he suggests one should make to their life are all things which my son and I were long considering and hearing him talk about them put us on track. Some may say this review is biased as I am a massive Russell Simmons fan (Def Jam Comedy, Def Jam Music, Phat Farm and Baby Phat clothing) and if, for some unfortunate reason, I lost these audio CD's I would definitely buy them back and consider them an asset to my life. I just have to figure out how to sneak them back into my sons room so he doesn't know I been borrowing them again!!!

I like the way he writes. And conviction of what he wants to share. A lot of truths. You ll leave the book probably with few new ideas but it is worth reading.
