Editorial Reviews

This EP might sound familiar to Mekons fans; ostensibly, it's an extended cover of the group's second single, "Where Were You?". The 20-minute "Boriginal" mix and the two remixes that bookend it lock into the mekano-heartbeat of Krautrock and embrace synthesizers more fully than previous releases. These are joyous chords that ring out with precision and abandon alike, when warranted.

Ok not really worth the ridiculous price, but any Boredoms fan should have it. The cd contains 3 tracks, an original tune [which i read somewhere is a remix] and 2 remixes of...the..remix. The original track is 20 odd minutes of pure Boredoms heaven, anyone who likes eYe and co's new 'mature' sound is bound to love this. I didn't find this as intense as anything on Vision Creation Newsun [or maybe I'm just getting used to it], it leaves a lot of room for air but don't let that put you off. This is still pumped full of energy and is a real feel good track. Guitar driven with constant tribal-ish [they are more like punkrock], and loads of sound effects which are nice on the ears. Just like their other stuff, but like their recent stuff, it gives an image of whiteness and shinyness, d'you ever get that?
It slowly develops and becomes a SUPER fast punk type tune which rocks and then chills out for the remainding minutes.
If I wanted to show someone the Boredoms in one song, this would be it even though it isn't an original incarnation it still sums up everything about the Boredoms. Its like a compilation of Boredoms in one track. The quality of the sound is very impressive too, well produced.
This disc is just begging to be bought, so do it. pleeeeease.

This is the best of the short time CDs (That more properly should have been boxed as a set)- this one is musical and intense, with overtures to the Mekons mixed it (and you can't go wrong with that really).

Some of the others of this series (i've reviewed a couple) were little more than simple rudimentary jams - sounding a great deal like kids with new found instruments powering through 3 chords and basic rock beats.

But this one - is musical.

I really enjoy the boredoms brand of rock/jazz/transe/oddball recorded snippets - but they sometimes are a bit forced.

This one works however.
