REVIEW:

My Not So Super Sweet Life is a great continuation for the My Super Sweet Sixteenth Century series. For all those fans who where wondering what happened to Cat and Lucas after her trip to the Renaissance, this is it.

In this book, Cat has to face the modern world and her dramatic and famous mother who left her when she was five. Moreover, her mother turns Cat's life into a Big Brother show: with media following her every move.
She'll have the chance to have a relationship with her mother and meet new friends and family. However, are Caterina Angeli's intentions true?

The characters were the same as in the other books. Cat's struggling with some trust issues, but she's trying to deal with them. Despite this, she's more open and she's quickly falling in love with Lucas. She's also put under a lot of pressure by being the focus of all the media attention and in the middle of the book "liberates all the teenage hormones on full-mode", as I like to say.
Lucas, on the other hand, is simply the perfect boyfriend. Is the boy every girl wants for herself. He's madly, deeply in love with Cat, although he hasn't said anything, he's attentive, protective and will do anything for her, to make her happy and crack that shell that her mother put there by being the scandalous diva everyone knows. He's so mature that sometimes you even forget they are all sixteen.
And we also see some other characters like Cat's father and stepmother, Austin, with his incredible humor, and Alessandra, always the attentive and caring cousin. But we also get to meet new characters like Ransom (not telling who he is, sorry!

This was another amazing book written by Rachel Harris. This wrapped up the journey we took with Cat since My Super Sweet Sixteen Century perfectly. I enjoyed getting to see more about Lucas and his life. It was very interesting seeing Cat and how she reacted to things with her mom and some other unexpected things that came into her life. Lucas was always so sweet and supportive of her and it was all so grin worthy. Harris' writing brought me into the book and I felt like I was really there the entire time. I also really enjoyed seeing more between Jenna and Cat in this book and was glad to see where that relationship went. I do wish I had seen more Less in this book, because I absolutely adore her.

I was grinning, laughing, shedding a few tears, and swooning like crazy while reading this book. I definitely recommend this book and any other that Rachel Harris writes!

I knew when that when I was finally able to start blogging reviews again, that I didn't want to start off with just any old random book. I've read quite a few books and pre-(hand)written some reviews in my absence. All ready to be typed up and posted. But about the same time I realized only had a couple weeks left until I could finally order my new computer I happened to see on one of my rare Facebook visits, talk about the newest installment of My Super Sweet Sixteenth Century series releasing and I thought to myself...that's the one.

I will admit, I've always been really nervous about getting fully back into Cat's story. It's no secret that I was torn up over how the first book ended. I loved it, don't get me wrong. But, to keep things unspoilery for those who've not started the series yet (and if this is the case go! Go now and read them then come back! I'll wait...) Anyway. Basically at the end I was both happy from reading such a great book and yet very sad and brokenhearted as well. I was hurting for him. You know who I mean.

It was so easy to fall right into this book. Rachel Harris will forever be one of my favorite authors. She has this ability to create fascinating characters that pull you into their stories and make you fall in love. I don't know how she does it, but I hope she never stops! It's in the dual POVs of Cat and Lucas which also makes me happy. I love getting the story and emotions from both sides.

I'm still very much loving Cat. She's tough and still just a little bit guarded but there's also a pretty vulnerable, scared girl underneath the side of her she projects to the world. Things have really changed for her since we left her in book 1.

First Impressions...

I love Rachel Harris books. I've wanted to get to this series for a long time but just haven't been able to. When she told me that this book could be read as a stand alone, I was super excited. So I made it happen - the reading of it that is.

The Characters...

I love Lucas. He's struggling from a lose in his family. His father expects certain things from him as a result and he really has a hard time saying no. It felt like he knew who he was but he needed to figure out how to help his did see that person and accept him. He's such a support to Cat and it's clear he loves her. They were sweet together.

It was nice that Lucas and Cat were already together. This story is about how they develop the feeling they have for each other into the bonds that strengthen them enough to face the difficult reality of their lives. They are good for each other. They support each other. It's sweet really.

It took me longer with Cat. Admittedly, I didn't know about her journey before this book, but I didn't like her right away. She hides herself away and I think I needed to figure her out. Took me a bit. But the author does a good job of highlighting the important growth from the previous books and I soon decided she was great.

The Story...

This book does stand alone. Although I didn't read about her journey into the past, I got enough of the details to understand the effect it had on Cat. The look alike characters are explained and those from the past that are present are clear. I was impressed that Rachel was able to weave all that information in there and still make it a fun enjoyable read.

Speaking of the fun, that's the best part of this book. It's fun.
