Review
—Tavi Gevinson, founder and editor-in-chief of Rookie magazine
"Super You isn’t a self-help book—it’s a manual for badassery. You may never fly or travel through time (drat!), but this book will help you develop your very own special set of super powers. Get ready to get awesome.”
—Aisha Tyler, actress, comedian, cohost of CBS’s The Talk, host of Whose Line is it Anyway?, and author of Self-Inflicted Wounds: Heartwarming Tales of Humiliation
"Emily’s drive and confident attitude make her a formidable foe for failure.” —ModCloth
"Super You is a hilarious and inspiring guide about finding, owning and having the courage to be the best you that you can be. You'll start this book as Clark Kent, and Emily will help you find your cape."

It is an excellent book that just focuses on how to give you the tools to live your life a little bit easier. After reading this, I have noticed my conflict skills have improved. I am more empathetic, which helps tremendously when I am surrounded by dumb college kids all day (including myself especially). Emily's goal for her reader is to be more self-aware and live with intention, which are two pieces of advice I had never heard of. It changed my life. I plan on reading it again before giving it to everyone. It is the kind of book you can read every five years and pick up something new. This book is the bible for how I live my life. It is so good. I would highly recommend it to anything that feels a little out of control or even if you think everything is fine. There is no way this book won't teach you at least one thing. I am a philosophy major, so I love opening my mind to different kinds of perspectives. This perspective on life seems to be the best I have found so far.
This book is a simple read, but I would not recommend reading it in one sitting because I don't want you to miss even one of the countless gems this book has. It should be digested slowly so that you can utilize as much as you possibly can from it. Emily is a smart, funny writer and I found myself plenty of times laughing out loud. I am not a super hero fan, but her analogies help me understand her concepts better, like the part where she compares the way we look at strengths and weaknesses to Super Man's. It is a book that everyone will like just because Emily is such a relatable and earnest writer that you can't help but want to be her best friend (Emily, if you're reading this hmu).
Get your copy as soon as possible!! There is no possible way you could regret it.
Self-Help books can be tough to read. They can be cloying or patronizing. The worst ones are both. What comes through from "Super You" is empathy and understanding. Emily Gordon's caring for her fellow humans is on every page. Her compassion is on every page. Her genuine wish for a world of wonderful and healthy people is on every page. Her main goal is to get her readers to live their lives with intention, to become the best versions of themselves through self-actualization, and claiming power over their lives, their experiences, and their view of themselves and the world they navigate.
"Super You" was written with staggering intention. Less than a week old, my copy already has tear stains on some of the pages that show just how deeply this book affected me. The plans and goals she lays out in "Super You" are attainable and able to be mastered, if you're willing to put in the work. The book is a wonderful tool, and a testament to the beauty of Emily Gordon's humanity.
Find this book. It meant the world to me, and I believe it will mean the same to you.
There are a lot of self help books out there but this one connects with you and resonates. Its also very readable and entertaining. This book is empowering and makes you want to be present in your own life, live with purpose and be overall amazing.
PS: Emily I have a feeling your reading this review right now. So say Hi to Kumail and Bagel for me, make more Indoor Kids podcasts, and also heres a random story. I came out for sketchfest last year. I went to Kumail and Jonahs show. I was sitting in front of Zach Woods, I turned around and saw he had something on his face and kept trying to signal to him and he kept waving at me begrudgingly not realizing what was happening and probably thinks I was being creepy.
