Out of all the PowerBI resources around - this is the best place to start for learning DAX.
He goes over that: he gives you best practices of how to organize your data for Power BI and understand the (not easy) logic of how data are related in Power BI.
However, it is not a free ride. As Mat warns in the book, you have to go back (often) to previous chapters to be able to apply successfully in your daily work the content of the book. It takes time (to me several months) but at the end you can show to your boss (or to your customer) the value that Power BI can bring in an organization.
