About the Author

A journalist of both print and broadcast, Billie Rae Bates has been a professional writer and editor for more than two decades, including 10 years in the daily newspaper industry in Detroit; Saginaw, Mich.; and Wausau, Wis. She's written three novels, two of which are set in Detroit, as well as the BRBTV series of fact books and reports, which cover the primetime soaps "Dynasty" and "Dallas," the action-adventure hit "The Dukes of Hazzard," the daytime soap "Santa Barbara," and a host of animated and kids' series. Since 2006, she's kept up a news blog focusing on these classic TV shows, and she's also blogged for Congoo.com and the OohLifestyle.com. She's the creator, writer and photographer of two yearlong photo essays, the much-discussed "My Mother's Clothing" and "The Inexplicable Lives of Dolls."

A graduate of Michigan State University's School of Journalism, Bates' work over the years has included interviews with all manner of actors and other Hollywood pros for the BRBTV products, as well as many artists and writers in the comics industry for her on-camera work for the TV shows "Fantastic Forum" and  "Comics Continuum." Bates is a Michigan native now living in Washington, D.C. You can visit her official site at BillieRae.com, as well as the home page for BRBTV at BRBTV.com.

As a fan-nish work, it's pretty thorough -- lots of behind/scenes stuff (some of it a repeat and/or slight expansion of material from the two shows' DVD sets), bits of art, stuff about collectibles, cast and crew lists......

And the episode guides are nice enough, describing every single episode. However, there's absolutely no critical eye to it at all. While I'm glad it's not one of those professorial-cynic-type write-ups that dredges up every possible flaw of each episode, it doesn't really help if it's generally glowing and gushing about every episode, either. It only pauses after some synopses to offer some trivia, and in a very few cases, vague hints that this episode is some kind of "(fan) favorite." 'Twould have been nice to get a sense of which episodes are among the best and worst episodes of the series, what works and what doesn't. Even just a simple one- to five- star rating system would've helped.

I wanted this feature not so much for "Isis," which at barely twenty 22-min. episodes is a snap to breeze through, but for "WW", with twice as many episodes to choose from.

Otherwise a nice enough and thorough book.

This book is really enjoyable to read. Both of these characters are the reason I started reading all the books I could on Greek and Egyptian mythology. It is fun, light reading after the end of a stressful day.

I bought the is book. I must say I was quite shocked in a pleasant way. I really was. I thought it would be just a nice book to have. I could not put the book down. I read all the information and interesting facts. You think you know the Wonder Woman and ISIS tv shows, but when you read this book, you will learn things about the casts and the shows themselves you did not know. I liked the items they showed that were sold as merchandise as well as the things that were not. I also liked the information and interviews with the stars too. You can clearly see the author did a great deal of research for this book. I highly recommend the book.

This was bought for the information about Isis and the '70s TV show, but the information about Lynda Carter's Wonder Woman was also fascinating. The book is about 2/3 Wonder Woman 1/3 Isis. Well written and lots of pictures.

This book provided very good review of both shows, and I loved the cover artwork! It is the only book (with the exception of "Channel Surfing: Wonder Woman" that provides an episode guide for "Wonder Woman". Great book for any fan of that TV Show! Recommend you get this while it's in print!

This book has to be the most definitive guide to WW and Isis to date. It's about time that these superwomen of seventies tv got their due. Readers will smile at the nostalgic anecdotes that Ms. Bates provides, along with behind the scenes details and some little known facts about the cast, crew and production teams on these shows. It is also jam packed with detailed synopsis of each show and filled throughout with illustrations of collectible memoribilia that fans of the shows will appreciate seeing again. A must have for any Wonder Woman and Isis devotee.
