The headphone jack in the stereo type ( in other words it plays though both sides of stereo headphones), though the sound is (of course) in mono.
It runs on 3 D cells or on the provided AC cord.
The radio itself is barn door wide. It'll pull in local stations just fine, but that's about it. There is but a single oscillator can inside of it. The IF transformers that would normally be there are substituted with capacitors. What does that mean? It's not very selective. Stations swamp the dial. It's very basic, but it works. Again for the price it's easy to overlook it's shortcomings.
SD and USB playback is very basic. There are buttons for play/pause, forward, and reverse. That's it. No display screen, of course. The forward and reverse buttons do NOT scan though the track when held down. They only jump to the next or previous track. This is a bit of a pain when playing back long files such as podcasts. Personally I prefer to divide the tracks into 2 or 3 minute segments to make navigation a bit easier to deal with. There are several free programs available for this purpose such as "JSplitter".
Mine came with a cold solder joint on one leg of the FM coil. I'm going to just consider that to be a fluke as the rest of it seems to be of sound construction and design. It's cheap, but for what it is it looked to be well built despite the problem mine had.
Though it's far from the best radio I recommend it for anyone looking for a basic low cost MP3 player with a speaker. Again for the price it can't be beat.
Just for the record I purchased one from another source and paid quite a bit more than what it's available for here.
AM/FM doesn't work very well and the TV Band
doesn't work at all. Nothing but Static!
Returned the radio.
I bought 3 more of these after evaluating the first. Used not as a radio (only FM worked) but as MP3 player. Really good for the $$. Sounds great for what it is, plays my 450 songs on a SD memory chip (or USB flash drive), and unlike many players/radios, comes back on immediately if power is lost and restored. So you can leave it in the barn to scare away groundhogs! But really, I like it in the house. A MONO version of MUCH more expensive iPod players. And better bass response than small radios in general.
However......(1) The supplied AC cords should be immediately replaced. 3 were "open", though none shorted as reported elsewhere here. (2) CAUTION: recently received reorders DO NOT HAVE THE MP3 OR FLASH DRIVE INPUTS!!!! So, a boat anchor. Or FM only, big city.

Shortwave reception is so-so and sw frequencies on the dial are incorrect. Still, not bad for $10.Published 12 months ago by BillTex

I just got this delivered and tried it out, none of the supposed TV stations on it came in, and the dial was loss as well as appeared not to be accurate. Very frustrated. Read morePublished on February 24, 2014 by Kindle Customer
