Product Description

Compact (pocket sized), dual-output LED flashlight designed for self-defense and personal protection. The E2D LED Defender® features a solid-state, two-stage light emitting diode that generates six times the output of a typical two-D-cell flashlight at its high setting and five lumens of useful light (enough to read a map or negotiate a dark path) on low. And should 200 lumens of blinding light not be enough to convince an aggressor to back off, the E2DL's crenellated Strike Bezel® and scalloped tailcap provide two sets of hard-anodized aluminum "teeth" as a last line of defense. Two useful output levels, a long runtime, a hard-anodized durable exterior, compact size, and enhanced personal protection capabilities make this flashlight a great everyday-carry option. Especially for those looking for a self-defense light with a bit more of a bite.

Other than the price, Surefire Products typically live up to their name, reputation and price. I have used this flashlight in combatives training and on deployments without any issues or difficulty. It takes a good beating and keeps on shining bright. The beveled edge is highly effective for impact use, and the 200 lumen led light definetly causes temporary distration for further technique execution. I've bought 2 as it is by far my favorite Surefire light.

Makes an excellent non lethal defensive weapon. Solid build. Nice.
Great to disorient an attacker. Allows you to get out of the way. Combined with firearm and or pepper spray its hard to beat. Blinding light takes some time to get over. You will see spots for a while.
If someone takes a swing at you and you use this to block an attack it will definitely cut them so be prepared for blood on your person. A less sharp bezel would work as well but for coats and heavy clothing I prefer this style.
Read the reviews on the surefire site but buy from Amazon its a lot cheaper.
Check out the Surefire fury if you are interested in this product. It puts out 500 lumens the E2D is 200. That 200 is a lot but if you want this for defense and personal use I'd look at the fury also. The Fury only has one output setting so is 500 or nothing. The E2d has 2 settings and I prefer the versatility of the Ed2.

I've had my E2D LED Defender for about a year now and I'm very happy with it. After a year, I'm still on my first set of batteries and original bulb (note - I carry this often but use it only periodically, so your battery mileage may vary).

This is an excellent flashlight. It's light and compact enough to carry often, will slip into a pocket (including jeans with small pockets). Fit and finish and the overall 'feel' of the surefire is excellent. The light is EXTREMELY bright, and having the option of a less bright light (to use less battery power) is a huge plus. The 5 lumens mode is fine for most situations where you need a little illumination, and the 120 lumens provides the option of a truly bright light. I carry this often as a light, but also as a concealable impact weapon given the scalloped bezel and extremely bright light. I.e., if jogging at night, this is a great thing to carry for both a practical light and a defensive weapon, though note it would not be very useful against dogs.

4 stars - great product, I can't give it 5 stars because of the ridiculous price (other manufacturers such as Fenix make excellent lights at better prices, but overall the Surefire does offer fit and finish that I haven't encountered in other lights plus the scalloped bezel).
