Product Description

The G2X tactical, a polymer-body version of our 6PX Tactical, is designed specifically for tactical use. Providing simplicity of operation and tremendous illuminating power in a small package, it uses a high-efficiency LED, virtually immune to failure since there's no filament to burn out or break to generate a brilliant, penetrating, perfectly pre-focused 200-Lumen beam. The G2X is activated by our classic tactical tail cap switch press for momentary-on, twist for constant-on. The tough Nitrolon polymer body is smoothly sculpted for a comfortable, secure grip and resists scratches, abrasion, and corrosion. A polycarbonate micro-textured reflector delivers a comparatively wider beam with generous peripheral light. We also make an aerospace aluminum-body version of this light, the 6PX Tactical, and a dual-output version with a two-stage click-type tail cap switch, the G2X Pro.

SureFire is a big name among survivalist, LEO and military. I never intend to own one until I purchased my first AR15, which I meant to add a weapon light to. As a weapon light, it has to be able to stand up to the abuse and recoil, thus I decide to go with SureFire.

In the past, SureFire generally runs around $100 if not more, even their entry level flashlight costs some pretty pennies. Until I discovered the pleasant surprise - G2X series. It has the price tag of theirs usual entry level, at the same time maintain the 200 lumen of brightness and SureFire Quality. Some argue it is not as good as their previous models, which I cannot tell: I have shot 500 rounds 5.56 NATO through my AR15 with my SureFire attached to the rail, and it's still functions great. I dropped the flashlight numerous times, even submerged it in the toilet (don't ask why) by accident, but it still function fine.

The size can be a bit bulky in pants' pocket; a holster will be more comfortable (Photo comparison in the gallery). I carry in my work vest pocket, so it does not bother me.

Brightness is superb. I would say it's the brightest light I have seen in its price range (Comparison with Dorcy 3xAA 200 Lumen in Gallery). The light is direct, while leave enough spill for exploration purpose.

The battery uses CR123, which for me is a down side due to the cost and how rare they are comparing to AA. They can be found online a whole lot cheaper than in store ($1.8 vs $5).

The light is mostly metal around the light compartment. The body and the tail cap are covered with rubber. (Photos in gallery) I personally like the plastic feel better than the metal. Just feel like it has more traction.

Small, light weight, seems very durable. I will use it as a tactical light with a handgun, so I like the touch button for getting a quick 'flash sight picture' without the light staying on. You can adjust the amount of pressure for this by turning the on-off cap. The light output is terrific! Even without a strobe, hitting someone in the eyes with this beam will momentarily blind them from probably up to 20 ft away. I cannot measure the actual lumens, but I believe 200 is accurate. No fancy settings or colors or power levels, but a burst of blinding light when you need it and a powerful flashlight for normal use.

I own a lot of lights, all better looking than this one. Nitecore, Fenix, etc. Let me tell you something, this light looks plain but it outperforms all the others... so much so i bought three. Ones in the car permanently. Ones by the back door of the house with my keys. One is in my bugout bag. Dont spend extra money on lights with gimmicks of strobes and spikes on the end youll never use. Buy this one, save some money, see crap at night. Its great.

I am a fan of Streamlight- so I gave into the hype and bought this Surefire. Not cheap, I was expecting big things from this light. It arrived and I liked it's looks, color and apparent stout/well built feel. Light lumens are great for a smaller flashlight. But having to twist the endcap to control on/off is just a cheesy, cheap inaccurate method. So I twist to what I think is the "off" position, I set down on a surface and the contact vibration from the surface turns it on again- big problem if you put in garments or pack when the heat from the lamp burns or melts the material and runs out the battery. I am not going to return and deal with the seller's prohibitive return policies. I will use this but just around the house and NOT in a tactical/survival environment. The cheesy twist to off/on is just too iffy a proposition. C'mon Surefire- you could have done better than this. Not impressed with my first Surefire purchase. I would give 5 stars if it had a positive on/off, toggle switch.

Sure fire lights are outstanding. Their brand of 123a batteries have a 10 year shelf life. This light would be better if it had a strap. But mounts to a weapon thru a universal mount and quite the bright light. More lumens thn anyone needs.

This flashlight worked perfect for what I intended it for. As a tactical light, used in conjunction with a pistol, it provides just the right amount of illumination, making it extremely useful. Not so bright that it blinds you in a pitch-dark environment but more than bright enough to temporarily blind someone you illuminate! Easy to grip between fingers and I love that it won't lock on!

I really liked this flashlight when I first got it. It's not the brightest flashlight out there but 200 lumens is good enough. (Now they got the 320 ones for the same price). I didn't particularly like the pattern the light gave off at close distance. You have to see it to understand; but, it doesn't make a different.

I have had a big problem with the light since then though, however. I cycled through one set of batteries before they started to die and it clicked into this low setting. I replaced the batteries and the light worked for about a day and then clicked back into this low setting. I thought I got a bad batch of batteries and tried them in my other lights. They worked fine.

I tried contacting surefire through email and have no received a reply. I may try calling soon. I know surefire is a good company and this light is definitely well constructed. I think it was just a lemon. Can't say though.
