The picture for this product is of a red glue gun. I have the red version of this glue gun and that one works very well. I guess I didn’t read carefully enough as the description says black. I do not care for the black version of this glue gun as you can only use Surebonder brand glue sticks in it. No other glue sticks will fit. The opening is too small to fit any other glue sticks. It’s frustrating that the Surebonder brand of glue sticks is slightly smaller in circumference than any other glue stick when they claim to have the same circumference as all of the other glue sticks. Seems kind of like a ploy to get more money from you. 😡

Piece of junk! I have never bought a worse product from Amazon, and I buy 4-5 products a week every week. A glue stick will not go through this product fully without gumming up. I do crafts all the time and have never had a glue gun to do this. I would give no stars if possible as this is going in the trash, and I will replace it with a usable product. I was unable to complete a simple project with this useless and poorly made glue gun. Please do not waste your money.

Won't advance the glue sticks!

I run a school makerspace so I know my way around a glue gun. I have four different kinds that we use and I thought I'd try these for smaller projects and smaller hands. Bottom line: they are in a recycling bin now. They fail to advance any type of glue stick. You pull the trigger and the glue gripper just slides on the stick and never forces the glue through the gun. You have to push it with your hand in order for it to work. Needless to say, that's not how it's supposed to work. And yes, that's on the high setting with dual temp glue sticks provided with the glue gun.

I bought this because of the good reviews. First, it does have a stand. Just a small metal thingymajig, but it does stand for sure. The cord is average in length (maybe shorter). When I used this, I was trying to glue cut-up cardstock to my DIY Save The Dates. Anyways, it looked like an average flimsy-ish gluegun, but it did do its job right. It melted glue. This does not have an off switch. Once you turn it on it would either be high or low. Make sure that you got all the materials that needs to be glued nearby as it will drip glue where it stands on. What I did was put a cardboard under the glue gun nozzle so once it drips, it will just fall on the board and not on the counter top. I turned it to high first then, once the glue is melted turned it to the low setting. By the way, even if you've unplugged it, it will still melt the glue as the gun is still hot. So unplug it when you are near in finishing your task.

The gluestick provided is the cheap kind. It melts quite fast. Unfortunately, the glue also dries fast thus you need to stick things immediately. I haven't tried using different brand gluesticks.

Can't comment on the durability as I've only used it twice, then opted to use the double sided tape, quicker to use and no spillage.

I bought this for updoing cowgirl hats for a bachelorette party. I was impressed that you get the gun and glue sticks for such a reasonable price! I used the gun to hot glue 6 stretchy sequined ribbons to the base of the wicker hats. It worked like a charm. Within 2-3 seconds of attaching the end of the ribbon onto the hat I was able to stretch the ribbon completely around the base. I used 4 more dollops (one on each side of the hat, one on the opposite end, and one on top of the first dollop) to secure the ribbon in place, and each one attached with no problem. 6 hats and one fantastic night later, we ended the evening with all of our hats looking as pretty as they did when I first glued the ribbons on!

Heats quickly and maintains heat well
Glue melts and firms quickly, leaving little to no trails
Small enough to fit easily in your hand.

Dual Temp Great for Small Crafts

The only dual temp Glue Gun at a $6 price point on Amazon. It has a little wire stand that is included in the packaging and comes with a good quantity of Glue that will last for a while with small projects. I prefer dual temperature because for certain crafts, the excess heat can damage the material or take longer to cool and also leaves higher risk of burns if accidentally touched.

Great deal for a glue gun and sticks. In stores this would cost 3 times as much as you would have to buy the gun and sticks separately. Great for small projects or quick fixes. I like the dual temp setting that allows for some control of the glue viscosity. Low temp will cause the glue to be more viscous and harden faster. High temp will make it less viscous and easier to flow and also give you more time to set the glue as it will take longer to cool and harden.

Good value dual temperature glue gun

This is a relatively good glue gun. I tried it on the low setting & was able to attach straws to cardboard for a science fair project. A somewhat flimsy stand (about the same gauge as a butterfly paper clip) is included to keep the gun up when plugged in. Although it looked flimsy, the tiny stand had no problems holding up the glue gun. The included mini glue sticks melted well at low temperature but seem to harden overfast when applied to the straw/cardboard. I may try the high setting to compare the results. As noted by other reviewers, 1 mini glue stick does not last that long so be sure you get extra glue sticks for your projects. There is a slight drip at the tip when not using the glue gun but it is relatively minimal - about a small bead after 15 minutes in idle. Given the price, this is a good product for your crafting needs. I would recommend a larger & higher quality gun if you are an avid crafter.

Only used a handful of times and this last time it does nothing but jam up and leak everywhere but through the nozzle! After cleaning it out 4 times, and yes, including the nozzle, only to have it jam up again - in the garbage it went... save yourself the aggravation...
