I have been incredibly happy with SurfEasy. I purchased mine in January of this year, so I've had a bit of time with it. Others have commented about its features, so I'm just going to address their customer service. I began experiencing 'stalling'-type issues with SE about a month or so ago...for example, after clicking on a link, SE would begin 'processing' but the new window or tab would just remain blank. Now, this may have been due to a glitch with SE itself or it could have been due in part to my tendency to go eons without removing the SE stick from my USB port and leaving it there even with my laptop in sleepmode overnight. I still have no idea. At any rate, in order to get things working again, I'd have to remove and re-insert the stick and tada, everything was peachy for the next few hours until I had to do it all over again. (BONUS Pro Tip: Removing the SE stick without actually 'quitting' apparently saves whatever website tabs you had open, so the stalling doesn't eradicate everything...well, at least I was given the option of restoring the previously open websites upon SE restart). About a week ago, the blue indicator light got tetchy...it would either turn off (i.e., the USB stick was not in full contact inside the port) or stay on but with a noticeably dimmer light. No worries though, I could just apply pressure to the stick to seat it properly and get that blue light shining brightly again and re-establish my SE internet connection without having to constantly apply pressure. However, that 'fix' didn't last for long and soon thereafter my SE internet connection went bye-bye forever. I described my issues with SE's customer service via their Help forum and, after verifying some of my original purchase information, SE mailed a brand new stick to me.Read more ›

Surfeasy was great at first however after 2 weeks my download speed dropped from 8mbps to 0.16mbps. Their terms and conditions state: 'if your usage is excessive relative to the average, we may need to limit your bandwidth or suspend your account'. My useable over the last 2 weeks mainly comprised four 1 hour sitcoms and some light YouTube browsing. I am by no stretch of the imagination a heavy user.
I purchased the 'unlimited' package however they fail to explain what the 'average' is. App is near useless at this download rate and a total waste of money!

It almost works very well. I initially thought it would make a VPN tunnel that would protect ALL of my network connections. However, I found that only the Private Browser is going through the tunnel and is protected. If I run my Mac's Safari, Mail, FTP, etc. ... None of this is protected. I called their customer support and it took awhile to get them to confirm this and even then, they didn't give much detail or advice about how to use the device in the best way.

It is very easy to set up and to use. I do believe everything going through the Private Browser/VPN tunnel is very well protected. I now know not to run Safari, Mail, FTP, etc. I'm just not sure how many other processes may be sending/receiving over the network that may not be protected and what, if anything, I should do about them.

Please read my initial "one-star" review before the update: I had previously been to YouTube using my original browser, and had watched a variety of video clips dealing with topics of interest. After receiving Surf Easy, registering, and creating my password, I decided to revisit YouTube. When I did using the Surf Easy browser (all other browsers being closed on my computer), YouTube immediately offered me a sampling of the very videos I had previously watched using my old browser. (Subsequent attempts to use the SurfEasy browser allowed some sites to identify me by name.) If Surf Easy allows you to surf the web anonymously, how did YouTube know to offer me videos dealing with the very topics I had previously watched?????

Update: On February 1, 2014 SurfEasy contacted registered users by email containing a link to a "recovery tool" designed to remedy unspecified problems with their USB browser. After contacting SurfEasy to make sure the mail was genuine, I downloaded the .exe file and installed the new software following their directions. For two days now I have been surfing various sites using Explorer AND the SurfEasy browser, and the previous problems seem to have been fixed entirely. Not one of the the sites visited by me using Explorer has identified my when revisited using the SurfEasy browser. One thing that might still happen is if you sign on to a site using the SurfEasy browser, then, without signing off, go to other sites before returning to the original site, there may still be a chance that they can identify you by name upon returning. This fix seems also to have had the effect of limiting those annoying advertisements immediately displayed by those who knew me when I logged on. The update can be found at [...]. So, I'm now satisfied that SurfEasy works as advertized. Thanks SurfEasy!!!!

It delivers EVERYTHING that was promised on the ad. We love it. I just had my credit card compromised again.... and from now on
I feel so much better having SurfEasy when I shop on line. My husband and I are 77 years old and we both were so pleased how easy this device is to use. One of our grandsons is an expert on cyber security and he gave it a thumbs up ☺
