Picked this up at the local Rockler store as the reviews here had me concerned that they wouldn't work well. In my case at least these concerns were unfounded. These hinges rescued me from a mistake - I was a bit over aggressive with my door edge profile and without thinking left <1/2" thickness along the edge in about 3/4" - 7/8" of an inch. This meant that I couldn't drill for a euro style without drilling a hole straight through to the front side.

These hinges saved me from having to use visible hinges, that, due to the odd 5/8" overlay I'd chosen (based on old hinges I had on hand), would have been harder to position properly.

While I admit I spent a couple minutes puzzling over the proper way to install, it wasn't all that difficult to work out - directions, even a small diagram printed right on the bag would have been very helpful here and are why I dinged a point off my rating.

One other suggestion would be to include shorter screws with these. The screws that came with were too long for my thin door profiles though thankfully I had some shorter screws on hand.

I have been looking for concealed hinges to attach doors to the bottom half of my bookcases, for childproofing purposes. My bookcases have a 2" facing strip around the edges, and I wanted a hinge that I could screw to the rear of that facing strip so the screw holes won't be visible when I remove the doors later. Unfortunately, the vast majority of concealed "Euro-style" hinges attach to either the front or the side of the cabinet facing, which would leave visible screw holes in my bookcases after the kids are grown and I can take the doors off.

Finally, I found these hinges! They're good quality, strong springs and mechanisms, and they attach to the rear of the cabinet facing just like I wanted. They open 90 degrees, which is fine for my purposes.

They would also be very useful for any application where the cabinet facing is too thin to put screws in from the side, but where you want the hinge to be fully concealed.

After installing and realizing I would need an 1/8 gap between door and facing I went another route.
I'm sure it has plenty of applications, but the manufacturer should offer detailed instructions before purchase.

I researched these "Euro" style hinges quite a long while before finding these non mortise types. It did not want to have to use a special router template and all the expense that it would entail.
These came with NO INSTRUCTIONS or illustrations. The website shows typical styles of hinges that are hidden but offers NO instructions or advice (or video?) on how the mount or really work.
I only ordered one set to test how easy these would be to use on a very simple door: but I have failed to figure out how these work.
A seasoned pro that understands mortised types surely would find these a quick solution where fast install is needed: just screws on surfaces. But for the lay person and apparently several advanced wood working people I have shown this to, you may want to do deeper research.
IF and when, I figure out how these work i will give my STARS and rating a revised statement.
