This book is the first of its kind to prepare you in total for the Absite examination. This book incorporates basic science with the clinical science in order to allow you to review for the tests in a short text version without having to decipher through large textbooks. It has references to O'leary, the basic science book used during my residency, as well as to other major textbooks. This book seems to cut out the redundency of larger books and includes small facts that they love to ask on the exam. A must for those with weak scores or those looking to gain extra points... who isn't.

I read this book and my in-training exam score went up by over sixty points. It's not exactly a quick read at over 500 pages, but it's very readable and it contains all the information covered in the ABSITE exam. I highly recommend it as a review book for surgery residents looking to improve their scores.

I'm a MS4 and am considering Surgery. A resident highly recommended this book for me during a surgical sub internship and after I had ordered it I wished I could have had this book for my clerkship!! Excellent information at a technical and basic science level that is understandable yet comprehensive. I've not found a subject in the book that wasn't significant and complete. And the price? Well valued above what I paid!

I wanted to get a concise surgical text that I was able to carry around (My Greenfield textbook is like 30lbs). I read a blog online of people who scored well on their absites and what they used to prepare and this book was highly recommended. Well, as promised, this book is exactly what I was looking for... it's maybe an inch thick, light weight and covers the essentials. It's great for junior residents and medical students. I intend on using it like FirstAid for the USMLE by putting additional notes in the margins when needed. Check it out.

This book is organized into short, pertinent chapters. It highlights the basic science needed for PGY1 and PGY2 taking the absite but also has very pertinent clinical information for all PGY years. The pictures are excellent and helpful. It is a short read per chapter which is helpful too. Overall, this book should be very highly recommended to people who want something to read to study instead of reviewing bulletted information that you find in some other study guides.

Any general surgery resident must spent a significant amount of time reading and preparing for the ABSITE and in order to improve their knowledge base. I have read a lot of surgical texts and find this book to have reached an excellent balance between brevity and yet thoroughly covering important basic science and clinical concepts for the junior surgical resident.
