Wealthy Freddie Highgrove might be no stranger to society magazines’ eligible bachelor lists, however, finding everlasting love has proven to be quite a challenge for him. Ten years ago, Freddie had thought that he had found the woman he was going to be spending the rest of his life with, but when circumstances had cruelly wrenched the two of them apart, Freddie was left with no other option but to pick up the broken pieces of his heart and try and move on with his life. Having not succeeded in finding somebody who could come anywhere close to his ex-fiancée, Freddie has signed up to an exclusive dating agency as a last throw of the dice. Freddie didn’t know what the expect when he was flown to the Seychelles for a week-long date, but he was completely and utterly dumbfounded when his match turned out to be his former fiancée, Jasmine Walker.
Ten years ago, Jasmine and Freddie had been head over heels in love. Despite the vast social chasm that divided the two of them, Jasmine and Freddie truly believed that they would go the distance, however, fate had other ideas in store for the pair of them. Freddie’s wealthy family were immediately against the match – after all, Jasmine was a housekeeper’s daughter who didn’t fit any of their criteria for a prospective daughter in law. Realizing that she would never fit into their world, Jasmine had no other choice but to break off their engagement and put as much distance between her and Freddie.
A decade has gone by since the last time they clapped eyes on one another and having found themselves meeting again in the most unlikely of circumstances, can Jasmine and Freddie lay old ghosts to rest and pick up where they left off? Or is it far too late for the two of them?
I loved Rachael Stewart’s scorching romances for the Dare line and am over the moon that she is writing for Harlequin Romance. In Surprise Reunion with His Cinderella, Rachael Stewart sprinkles her poignant and powerful romantic tale with sensuality, humour, warmth and passion and has written a spellbinding romantic escape that is an absolute struggle to put down.
Freddie and Jasmine’s romance is a moving second chance contemporary romance that aims straight for the heart and that will have readers reaching for the tissues.
In Surprise Reunion with His Cinderella, Rachael Stewart delivers a first class romance I couldn’t read fast enough – I can’t wait for her next book!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Jasmine Walker has worked hard to start up her own business and is doing well but finding love again has not happened, when she is pushed by friends into a dating agency an exclusive one where privacy is a must, she finds herself in The Seychelles and meeting up with the one man who has always been in her heart, her first love the man she has not seen for ten years Freddie Highgrove.
Freddie Highgrove has moved on from the family estate in Scotland when the love of his life Jasmine, the one person he wanted to be with forever left, he has decided he will never marry but the pressure is on from his family and he agrees to sign up with the M Dating agency to find love again, he is stunned when that one person he has never forgotten is there, can they put the past behind them and spend a week together and then leave it all behind again?
A lot has changed in the last ten years both Jas and Freddie have matured since they were eighteen and in love, both are successful business people but neither have found the love that they shared back then, their hearts are still linked even if Freddie wants to deny it and give themselves one week together, but Jas wants more she is not going to run this time, they were meant to be together and to find that happiness again in paradise is amazing. The sensual pull cannot be denied and their journey on the beautiful island has a few ups and downs before they find that HEA they deserve. A gorgeous story that I loved and can highly recommend.
My thanks to the author for my digital copy to read and review
Jasmine and Freddie were high school sweethearts that didn’t work out at the time.
Jasmine comes from a working class, single-mum family and worked herself into extreme wealth on her own merits. She worked hard, she gave up and lost a lot, but she’s determined to make the most of her life and enjoy it.
Freddie comes from a lairdship of Scotland, a wealthy family that’s steeped in traditions and manners that aren’t necessarily relevant today. He’s prepared to fight for what he wants and loves but has learnt from experience that he can’t always get what he wants.
This is a second chance romance set in the Seychelles where Jasmine and Freddie reconnect after almost a decade apart. While their romance didn’t take off like they’d hoped last time, they’re thrown headfirst into a romantic trip when they both sign up for a dating service that matches them together.
In one week away, immersed in romance on their own tropical island, can all the issues from the past be resolved? Or can they find their happily ever after?
Being a sweet romance in comparison to Rachael’s other books, I knew the pace and general feel were bound to be different to most of the books I read. Even then, I found the pace to be incredibly slow, especially in the beginning.
Apart from realising who each other are, the first half of the book felt incredibly slow to me. But given the speed, action, drama etc of the books I read just before this one, I think it’s fairly safe to say I think this came mostly from the sudden change of pace rather than it being actually slow.
By the time we got to the end of the book, we’d ended up with a fair amount of drama, setbacks and hurdles to overcomes. The adversity that Jasmine overcomes by the end is amazing and it definitely gave me a feeling of #girlpower all the way. Especially how she’s supported by those around her.

I’m like that with my reads sometimes as well – I want the full sweet and salty experience. I want a guaranteed HEA, but I want my heartstrings tugged along the way. I want to boo and hiss then swoon and sigh (I’m complicated). Freddie and Jasmine delivered that with knobs on!
First loves, eh? They leave an indelible mark, don’t they? (Yes, this review shall indeed be riddled with lots of opened ended questions – what of it? *snorts*) A love so great can be hard to forget, or even move on from, no matter the years or distance in between. If you had a second chance with a lost love, what would you do?
We all know my penchant for matching songs with books. So, it will come as no surprise when I tell you I’ve done it again! I’m showing my age (shut it!), but I kept singing Never Say Goodbye by Bon Jovi when I was reading Freddie and Jasmine’s story. Read the lyrics – ugh, my heart!
Fate aka the ‘M’ dating agency has given them a second chance in paradise. It’s up to them not to waste it.
From the sun, sea, sand, and beauty of the Seychelles to my favourite Scottish city of Edinburgh, prepare to be swept away with this touching and heartfelt second chance romance.
Rachael Stewart never leaves her readers wanting and SRWHC cements why she is one of my all-time favourite romance authors.
Jas is really something. She's pulled herself up from poor beginnings in a bit of a Cinderella story - but her successes are down to herself and not prince charming. I loved her drive and her passion, and how she retained her humanity despite of her changes in circumstance. It could have been so easy for her to become aloof and distant, yet she was so down to earth.
Freddie is a bit resentful of a lot, and cynical to boot. I didn't like how he treated Jas at times, especially after the half way point. I wanted to grab him by the shoulders and give him a good shake. It's understandable why he feels the way he does, but it took him so long to see things from a different perspective.
I loved the past between Jas and Freddie - seeing them work through it all and confront their feelings and their shared past was excellent, and it was messy. I loved their ups and downs and hesitation, and the fierce passionate lust between them
I would love to read more about M, the exclusive dating agency. Their skills are unmatched, and the way they set the scene so romantically was perfect.. Plus, I want more of that opulence. The whole Billion-Dollar Matches series will be going straight on my TBR.
