If you like a romance novel with lots of angst and drama, an emotional roller coaster where the H & H break up and get back together several times, then you will love this series. If you are like me, and get frustrated with the constant back and forth and wonder when the H & H ever get their act together, than you will not like this series.
To the other reviews, as I do agree Ava was annoying. However for those you who was on Team Jasper failed to see Jaspers flaws . WEAK Jasper; did not have the balls to stand up to his ex, Indie. Instead he allowed Indie to control him, and taunt and threaten Ava IMMATURE Jasper; then he go out with Harmony and brings her to Ava's job, I assume to make Ava jealous. HYPOCRITIC Jasper; Jasper gets jealous when Ava is getting close to another guy in the bar to the point where Jasper ends up fighting. And another incident
in the bar when she was "dirty dancing" he called her a whore. So for those of you who swoon on Team Jasper,
failed to observe, like Ava, he also had some serious issues.
My compliments to t the quality of the writing style . However, I believe this story became redundant with the constant back and forth. Also, limited supporting characters. Author could have add more depth and interest by including Lucas, Andy and his other bandmates in the story line.
Overall an okay read.
"You are your own worst enemy. Stop over thinking Ava, and let life happen. You start dissecting everything and life becomes pretty boring. So stop over thinking and start living."
"Never apologize for being you, Ava. True feelings that are raw, no matter how messy they may be, I will gladly take over superficial, insincere actions. You told me so much about yourself; about your vulnerability and your heartache and you didn't even utter a single word. Your tears told me everything. Sometimes those cheesy metaphors hold some truth."
"If you love something, set it free. If it comes back, it's yours. If it does not, it was not meant to be."
I didn't want the book to end and found myself yelling at my Kindle. This story will make you smile, laugh, and even cry at times. It's a rollercoaster of emotions but I found myself not wanting to get off of the ride. Can't wait to read the next book in the trilogy!!!
I was hooked within the first few pages. I really felt Ava's heartache. The way she gets dumped was just shitty...can you say DOUCHE!?!?!
"A girl, whose heart has been crushed, chewed on, spat out, set on fire-and put on repeat just for fun."
Thank goodness for her rockin bestie V Instead of letting Ava wallow in her misery she convinces Ava to go check out her boyfriend Lucas' band "Passenger's of Ego." In steps Jasper lead singer and Hottie Extraordinaire! Besides his smokin good looks Jasper possesses a heart of gold. I Just loved Jasper!!!
I really enjoyed watching Ava and Jasper's friendship bloom into a romance. I even appreciated the cliff hanger, because it stayed true to their story. Love may not always be easy, but it's a journey worth taking...
What a wonderful Debut Novel by Monica James...Bravo! I'm truly looking forward to the next books in this series.

Where do I start with Jasper? Oh, yeah, he's the tortured, creative artist. His past is broken and pretty crappy due to his home life sucking. The first time Jasper and Ava meet, the world shifts and Jasper knows he'll do whatever he needs to have Ava. Did I mention Jasper's a singer in a band? Yeah, he's like the bad boy with a soft center, a voice that wets panties and a devilish charm that melts even the biggest of icebergs.
"I knew you two would get along." Jasper smiles as I turn my head, looking at him while still stroking Oscar.
"And how did you know that? What are you, the animal whisperer?"
"Well, apart from that, I knew the little guy had spirit when I found him behind the clinic, hunting for food in the dumpster. I took him inside and within ten minutes, he picked a fight with a pit-bull, stole my dinner, crapped everywhere but his litter tray, but most importantly, he's a grumpy sh*t, just like you."
Ava is a mess! Literally, the chick is a mess. She's had her heart broken by the guy she gave up everything for and is coming home with her tail between her legs. She doesn't even know who she is without her ex and that's a major problem but also probably why I understood her so well. She fights the attraction she has to Jasper because they say they are going to be friends but she obviously doesn't realize Jasper totally set her up to be his. It's quite interesting to watch.
The two circle one another, build a really solid relationship and then move into the relationship territory. They are like fireworks, explosive, dangerous yet beautiful when handled properly. The love between them is real, consuming and complicated. It doesn't help that two very broken people are in love. The book leaves you wanting to know what the next step is and I totally jumped into the next book as soon as I finished reading this one.
