I don’t include spoilers in my reviews, but really, you shouldn’t be this far along unless you’ve read Denial and Demand. Surrender picks up where Demand left off. We’re still figuring things out with Ella as her memory returns. Kayden is still a sexy mothereffer. And nothing is as it seems.
LRJ delivers what I want in a romantic suspense. I don’t want predictability, but I also don’t want so many red herons thrown out that there are a plethora of plot holes. Each book in the Careless Whispers trilogy flows and makes sense. Surrender brings everything to a conclusion, but the world that LRJ has created for her characters is so big that I won’t be surprised if we see them again. I would love to see a book centered on Adriel and Sasha! She is so fiery and stubborn, and Adriel is so secretive and broody.
There’s edge-of-your-seat action that’s fast-paced and intense. Ella continues to be a strong woman that doesn’t rely on Kayden, but rather supports him and his role as The Hawk. She is his Lady Hawk for sure! Really, the women in Surrender are showing the men how it’s done. I like that. But they still love and need their men; it’s a great balance.
Why not 5 stars? Just a couple of things and they’re personal preference: I wanted more sexy times between Kayden and Ella. I wanted more of his demanding side to come out to play, and for the scenes to be longer. The multiple point of views. I love Sara and Chris, but I didn’t need their voices inserted in Ella and Kayden’s book. I don’t think their POVs added anything to the story that couldn’t be conveyed through Kayden's or Ella’s POV.
I highly recommend Surrender to those of you following this series. If you’re new to it, start with the Inside Out series, book 1, If I Were You. If you haven’t read anything by LRJ, what the heck are you waiting for?!
ARC kindly provided for an honest review (I also purchased this book).
You feel like you are magically involved into their world. I did not think any other alpha male would be up on the sexiness level as Mark or Chris (Inside Out series) until we met Kayden! I know I wrote reviews on the other two books, but it’s so hard to write this review without a little background. If you only have read the Careless Whispers Series, I recommend you go back to where it all started with the Inside Out series. You need to meet Mark, Crystal, Sara, and Chris.
Now to Denial. WOW! I want to give it 10 stars if I could! The suspense of what would happen next held me captive all through the book. We have already seen how solid Kayden and Ella’s relationship had become.. And if this was not the ultimate test, I have no idea what is. Ella is ready to start giving up control to Kayden’s needs, and those scenes make you squirm. They are hot and make you want more. You will be afraid to blink so you do not miss something intense There will be more betrayal. More heartbreak for Ella. But at the end you will find out who Ella really is. With all the history I have with these books ( and yes I have read the Walker brother’s series where Blake comes in ) I never saw this coming. Not one clue. Surrender has all alarms going off. It’s sexy and intense. Ella is strong and holds her own. Kayden and Ella will protect each for always, including the ones they love. Meet The Hawk and Lady Hawk. This book blew my mind away! I want to be Lady Hawk.
Thank you Lisa! This is the reason I am a huge fan! You have me hooked. I read your note at the end of the book and agree with all the “What’s next?” I can only hope one day, you will continue to give us more. Thank you for giving us these characters, Paris and Greece. And these hot alpha men!
I loved Ella for her strength and determination to find out who she was while still staying true to the person she knows herself to be. She is a strong heroine who isn't afraid to fight for who she loves. I loved that Kayden allowed her to be that strong warrior while still appreciating the woman she is. Doing all this while still keeping his control of the all situations. The man is a great leader.
Usually in stories like this you see the heroine rising into her own strong character while the hero tends to dial his down letting her shine. I liked that in this book that didn't occur. That rather they rose together as a cohesive unit. One not stronger than the other but stronger together. They are a true king and Queen.
This book and series are a great read. Check it out if you love your stories filled with suspense and mystery and some really hot scenes. You'll be like me and be sad to leave this world when it's all over.

Kayden, the Hawk is the leader of an underground organisation. The rival organisations are still battling for supremacy but Kayden is more determined than ever to keep the peace that he thrives for.
Ella is struggling with her memories. She has flashbacks but she is still not sure of who she really is. Neuville hasn't given up on his pursuit of possessing a valuable artifact as well as Ella.
In this unsettling time, the one constant in Kayden's and Ella's life is their soul deep love for each other. Their enemies are not averse to using them as a bargain tool to get what they want. Together they have to plan and come up with strategies which will allow them the freedom to live their lives! However, nothing is as straightforward and as more pieces of Ella's memories return, she becomes more frustrated about not remembering the crucial part. Some of the memories put doubt in her mind and this could well put a strain on this wonderful relationship. The answers to some of the puzzles remain elusive. The threats and danger become more prominent. There is a traitor in their circle. Some will stop at nothing for their greed of power and wealth.
Kayden and Ella are both warriors and fierce about protecting the ones they love. The development of this story is so well structured that it's impossible not to become engrossed. It's passionate, full of suspense and some of the surprises are gobsmacking! The intensity of the love between Kayden and Ella is very palpable. Their loyalty knows no bound.
I have relished this whole series and it's sad to see it come to an end but, in a good way. Fabulous from beginning to end.
Finished it but very disappointed. Predictable, repetitive (dd you see what I did there?) and a bit boring if I'm honest.
I think if I'd read this part straight after reading the first one I'd have enjoyed it more. Because I'd waited so long I was less invested in the story.
Also unsure why this writer is incapable of writing a book - one that has a start, a middle and a conclusion. She writes like a TV series, leaving each episode on a cliffhanger. So for someone like me who doesn't even like waiting a week for the next episode of a show, it's not the best. Is this a ploy to encourage readers to buy 2, 3 or more books to find out how it ends up rather than maybe paying a little more for a good meaty book you can get your teeth into.
Think I'm done with LRJ.
We're then immediately thrust back into the dynamic of Ella and Kayden's relationship. She's still struggling to remember and ultimately the right triggers are conveniently helping the cause. He's doing everything in his power as the Hawk to end her torment and to provide her with safety and security, as well as be the supportive, caring and considerate man that loves and is loved by her. Their love and connection was as strong as ever, despite her habitual hesitations. Their chemistry was as off-the-charts as ever.
On the suspense side, a plan finally falls into place, even considering the unpredictable nature of the players involved. Niccolo is still expecting Kayden and Ella to eliminate his brother, Neuville, and provide him with the necklace. They just need to stay one step ahead of him. Unfortunately, Neuville is a psycho, no one is safe, and I was doubting who could be trusted.
I know I'm going against the grain. I know that I will be of the minority. I'm actually used to that, but I didn't love this book. As much as I had looked forward to this story, it felt anti-climactic. It left me still yearning for a conclusion. As beautifully written as it was, I wasn't wowed. This had a lot to do with the redundancy of Ella's inner thoughts (am I really the only one who was annoyed?) and the lack of an effective ending. It didn't touch me. I wasn't satisfied with the way things were left in the end. The only thing that gave me hope is the hint that the author left that there may be an epilogue for this couple in the future.
This was an enjoyable and entertaining conclusion with an action scene that highlighted Ella's badassness. There were appropriate doses of love and forever between her and Kayden and I was still very much in love with his character. I'm crossing my fingers for a future epilogue!!

There was action, heat, passion, suspense, emotion... there were questions answered, I got to visit old friends. If I could give this book, hell the whole series, more than five stars... well, there's just not enough stars! I give it infinite stars!! XO
