Melissa Foster has done it again! I am absolutely loving the Bradens of Peaceful Harbor series and I devoured this book within one day. One of the things I love about Melissa Foster's books is that all of her characters make appearances with ones from other series and they are all tied together, like one big, happy family. Even though some of the stories follow slightly similar storylines, each character has his or her own past, quirks, flaws, and qualities that makes each new story fresh and fun.
Dr. Cole Braden is an orthopedic surgeon who grew up in Peaceful Harbor, Maryland. After college he returned to his hometown to set up his practice with a friend and to be surrounded by his family. He has a good life, even with a crazy ex-girlfriend who also happens to live in Peaceful Harbor, and is fairly content. One day he meets someone who just might make life a little sweeter.
Annalise (Leesa) Avalon is a middle school teacher whose life is turned upside-down by unfortunate circumstances. She leaves her hometown and comes to Peaceful Harbor to spend a few weeks with her friend Tegan while she figures out what to do next. Leesa is getting breakfast for Tegan when she meets Cole for the first time. It turns out she is buying the last of his favorite muffins and coffee and the two talk for a little while. She starts seeing him around town a lot and Leesa and Cole are instantly drawn toward each other. Leesa has some reservations and issues that she has to deal with before she will let herself be in a relationship and she doesn't know if she is strong enough to face them.
While I love all of Melissa Foster's books, my favorite so far has been the Seaside Summers series because of the setting and I think the Bradens of Peaceful Harbor is a close second. I feel like the setting is fairly similar since it takes place along the ocean and I can easily picture the beautiful scenery of the coastal town. If you enjoy Melissa Foster's books, I'd definitely recommend reading the Bradens of Peaceful Harbor series and I would suggest starting with the first in this series, Healed by Love, because it will help to get a good understanding of the characters and the Braden family dynamic. I highly recommend this series!
This was an amazing audio book. I'm new to the audible world and this book helped me escape my world and enter the Braden world. The narrators smooth voice really brought the inflections of the characters to life. Although I envisioned Cole to have a deeper voice, it was still smooth as butter and swoon worthy. When the characters switched the story truly came to life. It was hard to believe it was the same person reading the story. I just fell in love with Cole and Leesa again and again, it was such a touching and sensitive story the author really gave these characters deep and meaningful backgrounds and story lines. It's one of the reasons I love the series, it's always so unique and leaves me feeling like I secretly am a part of their lives. Leesa encounters a fear that any adult helping a child in need these days faces and Cole the alpha protector he is, lovingly supports her and pushes for the desire to culminate this relationship further. I fall in love with more Braden men than I think I'm allowed to but it's my secret indulgence...thank you Melissa for yet another fabulous romance story.
I LOVE this sweet story! I instantly liked Cole in the coffee shop and then when he jokes later about lunch not being for a few hours while reaching for his wallet--I fell for him. Hard. Cole is the prefect man! He's honest, loyal, has a great sense of humor, and genuinely cares about everyone. Especially Leesa, who is having a hard time dealing with what she calls "baggage" from her hometown. Her predicament is totally believable which makes the story feel realistic. The candid banter between all of the characters are some of my favorite parts and makes the story fun.
My one minor holdup with this this story is that compared to Leesa's issues with her major life-changing events Cole is a little TOO perfect. His only flaw is that he always does what IS right and has to be pushed, by his brother Sam, to do what FEELS right. (thank you Sam, for finally giving him sh*t about that!!) But I guess that's why I love Melissa's books so much; on one hand they are real and on the other they are truly what we dream about and want in a love story. And THIS love story is definitely worth a second read! (and perhaps a third.)
I have listen to several audiobooks of Melissa Fosters books and the narrator just keeps getting better and better. Not only is the storyline out of this world but the narrator is so freaking fabulous. Surrender my Love is Cole Braden and Annalise “Leesa” Avalon. Braden who is one of the Peaceful Harbor Braden’s and Leesa is a school teacher hiding away in Peaceful Harbor. I love how Melissa writes how one little boy can change the outcome of so many. We get to see 2 people fall in love and 1 of them is to afraid it will all fall apart because of one lie. No matter how you listen or read this story it’s fantastic. These Braden’s are just so great to read about and it’s great to get lost listen to one sexy voice read it all to you. BJ Harrison and his sexy voice just pulls you in and you won’t want to stop listening. He has narrated so many of Melissa Fosters books and he is just outstanding. I will be looking for more audiobooks that he has narrated, the story could be horrible and having him read it would make it awesome, however with a Melissa Foster book, it just makes it a 10 Star audiobook. So thank you Melissa for writing such an amazing book and for having BJ Harrison narrate it. Everyone you will simply love listening to BJ read Surrender My Love!!!! Enjoy and get those headphones fixed and cleaned and put them on your ears!!!!
