Like the first reviewer, I have been following the Leanpub version and the repos for some time -- in my case, almost 1 year. If I could give 6 stars, I would. The evolution of the SurviveJS project (book and multiple GitHub repos, taken together) is a testament to the power of open source. The material in this book isn't the product of a single smart React developer, but of more than 1 year of real use and feedback by an active community.
There are other places to go for an introduction to React. But, if you are developing a REAL React application, and need to understand all the related technologies -- Webpack and all related tooling, ES6 as it relates to React, the Flux pattern, etc, etc. -- there is no other resource that comes close to this book and the GitHub repositories associated with it.
Finally, in the (too) fast paced world of JavaScript development, books and OSS projects that are on the leading edge can become obsolete quickly. SurviveJS as a book and an OSS project doesn't look like it will suffer from that fate, given how active is the author and how large its community. Check out GitHub and you'll see what I mean.

This is not a bad book. You can learn from it.
However, sometimes it gets a little confusing to follow and have some errors (typos) that will refrain you from advancing as fast as you can.

Everything is moving so fast in this space that many printed books are obsolete as soon as they're printed. Unfortunately, this book is no exception.

I was following the leanpub early version since No. 2015. The authors way of building everything up in logical steps works very well for my way of thinking.

Especially at the beginning, too much focus on boring and complex (partly not needed) webpack configuration topics. Partly style of writing more leads to confusion than to clearness of appropriate topic.

Provides a nice overview, even if the example of the Kanban is kinda recurring almost everywhere
