- Reviewed in the United States on September 28, 2012I enjoyed reading Surviving a Japanese POW camp very much. My husband, Tom, ordered it for me. I was also a prisoner as a child in Santo Tomas. In any event I enjoyed reading and bringing back to mind the Santo Tomas I knew. He was very acurate in his discriptions as was the author of Happy Life Blues. Some POW books of that period tend to be about the adults, not the children. We later knew Pete Wygle in California when he was involved and the leader of our BACEPOW prisoner group in the Bay Area. You can tell that he is quick whitted and he did a good job of telling the story of very trying time. He did a great job of weaving his story around his father's notes. Most of all he is truthful about the experience!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 28, 2013I have never read a book that is written by two individuals with conflicking information. Father and son at that! Very good book and different.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 26, 2015I bought this book for a friend. The book was written by her uncle (Peter R. Wygle) and his dad. The book came in perect condition, has the advertised autograph- but the best part is that there is 2 pictures of her mother (who she never met because she was adopted out) in the book. The packaging was excellent. The cover and pages are not bent. Thank you, Texas Star Books. If I think of a book, I'm going to check *your* store first.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 20, 2014A very gripping and personal history of the experiences of an American family held captive for over three years by the Japanese. It is written from the perspectives of the father and his teenage son and is illustrated by Mr. Wygle's own detailed drawings. If you are student of history or just looking for a riveting story to read, this is your book.
