About the Author

Ahren spent her formative years living in an active volcano. There her family made collectible lava art. She studied rock collecting at the Sorbonne in France. There she met the love of her life-her pet pig Sybil. She returned to the states and started writing. She is happily married to a guy who used to live under a bridge and she met while pole-dancing. They have one amazing daughter.
Now, meet the real me. I grew up in the south and consider myself a true "Southerner". Most of the special locations mentioned in my books are reflections of my favorite places. Living on the Florida coast, my family spends a lot time at the beach which is where I usually can be found with a book in my hand. I started writing my Surrender Series, in the spring of 2013 and have received incredible support from the Indie community. Throughout this year, I have been privileged to meet some amazing people that I am thankful to have in my life.

The story was cute, but I really have to say it felt like fan fiction from some band's fangirl site. The ridiculous jealousy and over the top obsessive protection of Raven is too much. All of the male characters falling all over themselves for her is not realistic. No one let's a girl (and she is a girl) step in and rule their lives and businesses. Women are catty but most do have boundaries. So making so many of the female protagonists out to be psychotic stalkers and back stabbing manstealers is boring and predictable after the first time. The gratuitous sex is excessive and takes away from the real story trying to be told.
The book is well written, just unsatisfying and unreasonable. Raven pretends to be a strong likeable character while in actuality is a immature, over whiny, and self centered brat. Declan is supposed to be a strong alpha male but comes off as a possessive, jealous suitor that needs a Mommy to direct his life. I was disappointed overall, not something I would pay money for if I could do it over.
Overall this author has amazing potential if she can step back on the teenage drama and reduce the amount of characters incorporated into her stories. Too much focus on hotness, fashion and OMG we're partying to truly develop an emotional response to her writing. The potential is there, it just needs to be developed.

A solid 4.5 stars for the follow up to Surrendering! I swear I have been waiting for this book to release for months. After Raven left for France with Finn, I drummed up all kinds of storylines in my head on how the two of them could ride off into the sunset together. But yeah… I kinda knew that wouldn’t happen because Raven really does belong with Declan, who I also adore.

I give credit to Ahren for not dragging this into a love triangle because I don’t consider it one. Yes, there is a tiny element of this in the story but you know very quickly who Raven will wind up with and I think even the blurb makes it pretty clear she will be with Declan so I don’t consider this a spoiler. Despite this, the storyline is handled well and I think the Finn lovers will be pleased that storyline didn’t drag on
.
Really the story focuses on Raven and Declan’s fight to regain their trust and repair the relationship they both had a hand in hurting. Though I was pretty ticked off at Declan towards the end of Surrendering, he totally redeemed himself this time around. Yes, he can be a possessive butt sometimes but never can you doubt his love for Raven and he does whatever it takes to prove it to her. He is pretty high up on the book boyfriend list right now with his sexiness as well. And yes, be prepared cause there are a lot of sexy times in this book.

I didn’t rate the book five stars because though Ahren’s writing did show improvement, a lot of the sentence structure was still a bit choppy for me. Also, Raven just really gets on my nerves sometimes. I like her, she’s actually a pretty good heroine but too much of a drama queen for my taste. By the end, she had grown on me quite a bit as her character matured.

Let me start by saying it would have been a near impossible feat for the follow up book to beat the first- Surrendering is probably the best new adult book I've ever read. I'm not one to leave big synopsis in a review, and I try to never leave major spoilers, so just a couple of quick points to highlight!
MILD SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!
Declan- by far and away my favorite book boyfriend of all time. Even at the end of Surrendering when I wanted to kill him, I still loved him. And boy, did he redeem himself in Surviving!
Raven- love her! I saw another reviewer who was a bit critical on her, I respectfully disagree. I think the beauty of the two books is the character development is very realistic, and in real life people are not perfect! She certainly had a few melodramatic moments, but nothing way over the top, and overall she's a great character.
The Secondary Characters- are awesome! Well developed, but not over developed, just what the should be!
Finn- well done. That's all I can say without saying too much!
Plotline- and here's my only criticism. It drags a little, just a little. There were a few times where I felt like I was waiting for
things to happen. In fairness, there is a lot of time and material covered. I loved the story, loved the development and progress of all the characters and definitely respect that this is more a story that seems to be about growth and an examination of relationships through life experiences, but I just didn't feel quite the emotional punch that I felt in book 1. That being said, it was still excellent and a great completion to the story!
I think Ahren Sanders is a phenomenal writer, and I really hope to see more from her soon!!!!!

I have mixed feelings about this book. I loved the first book in the series and could not wait until this one came out. When I saw today that it was out, I bought and read it.

THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS

What I loved. I still love Declan a lot. He is very much in love with Raven, the h, and acts like it. He puts her first and I can't help but love his possessiveness towards her. Despite ample opportunities due to his rock start status and good looks, there are no OW for him, in thoughts or deeds. Despite them always trying, they are not even on his radar. I loved that the book had a HEA. I really liked Finn too. Raven's best friend and potential OM. He was a good friend despite it not being reciprocated.

Talking about not being a good friend, I did not like Raven in this book. I thought that she treated Finn poorly. She used him to attempt to get over Declan and he gave her 100% support including going with her out of the country for a summer job. He took care of her and attempted to fill the days they were off from work with fun things to do, to distract her from her pain and make good memories for her of their trip. She thought Declan was with OW and threw herself at Finn when he was in the shower. We are told that Finn loved her and if so, that was a crappy thing to do when she only had lukewarm romantic feelings for him. Even though he had strong feelings for her, Finn turned her down because he knew that she was not over Declan. She was self centered and that showed in how she behaved including her interactions with Finn. Another thing that bothered me about Raven is that she cried and whined.....and she cried and whined...and she cried.....alot.

I felt like there were too many characters in this book.
