Surviving The Threat by Antaeus is a book that will benefit everyone who reads it. As the author points out in the introduction, we live in a world where anything can happen and potential threats are everywhere, even the classroom. Soldiers are more prone to be aware of their surroundings. Actual combat teaches you this. But everyone should be aware of what is going on around them. It might be tiring sometimes, but it just may save your life.
That is the theme of Surviving The Threat and I think the techniques and mindset needed to prevent tragedy should be learned by everyone. I think the knowledge in this book is absolutely essential for anyone who travels a lot or is involved in any project or work that may be controversial.
Surviving The Threat is very well written. It is organized in a way that shows the reader why situational awareness is so important, and gives him the knowledge to implement this mindset in his daily life. I really enjoyed the fictional examples of situations where this knowledge could have saved lives.
Surviving The Threat is thoughtful, entertaining, and useful. Unfortunately, situational awareness is something that most people are unaware of or choose to ignore. Maybe Antaeus can change that with this book.
We have seen too many classroom tragedies here in America. If parents and children can read and start to implement the principles of Surviving The Threat, maybe the next one can be avoided. That would be an awesome accomplishment for this book and for Antaeus.
From the Author
Writing "Armed and Alive" was easy compared to the research that went into "Surviving The Threat." I decided to write "Surviving The Threat" after a friend was caught in a lock-down situation. He told me it was a nightmare experience for him. "I didn't know where to go, whereto hide, or what I was supposed to do," he told me.That's when I realized that most people wouldn't know what to do in a terrorist or mass shooter situation. I did a lot of research, put together some personal experiences, added some of the things I was thought in the military, and "Surviving The Threat" was born.
